How do I "unsubscribe" to a thread?

I keep getting notifications of threads I have commented on and I would like to know how I can stop getting notified of new posts to a thread? Thanks to whoever replies

User CP (control panel) at top of all pages.

User CP > Your Profile > Edit Options > Messaging and Notifications > Default Subscription Mode: > (choose) Do not subscribe or No email notification

User CP > Miscellaneous > Thread Subscriptions (then select all boxes, scroll down) > With Selected: Delete Subscriptions
