Riding Gear Storage

Last fall the wife and I worked on the garage painting it and getting some new cabinetry. One of the cabinets was specifically for riding gear. This Husky Cabinet came from Home Deport and seems to be the right amount of space for what I need for my riding gear. Be aware that one of the major gripes with this product is that because of it's sheer size a fair amount of them are damaged in shipment. Best to look at it in store and go through the trouble of hauling them home.

Inside. The cabinet is pretty deep so there is good space available on all the shelves. The way the clothes pole is mounted could be better and I might tackle that in 30 minutes with a drill once the temps come up a little bit. I like the fact I now have all my gear in one place without having to look through several plastic bins to get what I'm looking for

Does the cold garage temps have any negative affect on the coats, helmets, etc? I tend to bring mine in the house over the coldest couple months of winter.
But I do like the idea of cabinets for everything in my garage.

I've lived in cold climates for the better part of my life and have never noticed any issues with storing clothing/helmets/boots etc. in an unheated garage. The coldest temp I've seen this year in the unheated part of the garage where the cabinet is located is 16 degrees during a recent cold snap (we keep the garage door up enough for the cats to get in/out) and have been doing that for years.

I store my helmets in my unheated garage. No problems, but I do bring them inside for a while prior to cold weather rides.

I'm lucky in that my house has many closets so I have one dedicated to all my gear. It's great to have everything in one place.

I'm copying that. Right now I have a mess of gear all over my garage. Frulk, how deep is the cabinet? I have a used office furniture store near the house and I'm thinking an old office cabinet would do the trick, subject to depth.

The cabinet is 24 inches deep, 46 inches wide and 72 inches tall. The shelves are adjustable. Right Now I have them at about 12 inches apart with the bottom one closer to 18 inches. in the bottom where the coats hang there is enough room for 4 pair of boots.....Cabinet comes in two styles...solid metal doors or with plexiglass inserts. In my case the plexiglass one holds about 10 backpacking tents and assorted other stuff.
