Helmets: The perpetual motorcycle forum discussion topic.
From Gear Patrol in my news feed:
"There’s a massive sale on Bell Helmets going on right now, just in time for the 2019 riding season. All styles are marked down so no matter what kind of riding you’re looking to get done, you’ll be able to save on a new lid. The vintage-styled dirt-focused MX-9 is currently 19 percent off, and you can even grab a vintage-styled Bullitt at a 42 percent markdown. But, the biggest savings are on the Bell Star line – you can look forward to saving $300 and still get a top-notch lid."

I wear Shoei helmets, but I'm tempted to try out a Bell Bullitt.
Edit: Hmmm...the link at the bottom of the page goes to Revzilla. Most of the styles only have XS and XL sizes left. So, maybe not such a killer deal after all...

I like the look of those Bell Bullitts but those must be nasty in humid weather.

I've got a bell bullitt. Some reviews say it is a weird shape but it's a comfy fit on me. Only downside is the lack of a sun visor. I love the retro look. Pointy sports helmets spoil the look on modern classics imo

I also have a Bell Bullitt. It matches the style of the bike well I think and is light and comfortable (on my head). One big plus for me is the amazing field of view. I literally don’t have any helmet to be seen.

Bell Bullitts "look" like they don't ventilate well. Is that true?

It’s still winter here so I’ve only ridden in the cold with it! It doesn’t have vents all over it like my Arai but the liner look like it is well designed for plenty of air movement. I’ll let you know in three months time

Highly recommend the Bell Star. Extremely comfortable, quiet, well ventilated. Never been uncomfortably hot in it even in 90+ degree temps.

Is the whole lining is removable for washing?

FWIW, I tried a Bell Bullitt when they came out. Very well made (fiberglass), great visibility, nice lining, but the fit on me was a bit loose, and the combination of port-hole vents that whistled and the rather poor seal around the visor and neck made for a noisy helmet. LOTS of air getting in there. Tried the Gringo S but, until recently, it was an open question how safe they would be if actually called upon in a crash. Currently using the new AGV X3000. Also high quality (fiberglass shell, leather lining), more substantial chin bar and cheek pads than the Bullitt, better visor and better seal, plus the neck roll makes it much quieter than either the Bell or the Biltwell, in my experience. Field of vision excellent. Not currently on discount, as far as I know, but if you are looking for a retro design, you might want to take a look at this as well.

Just now seeing this. Yes it is.
Worth mentioning as well that the Star comes with a neck curtain and chin curtain. Reduces noise even further and is great in the cold temps. I use a neck gaiter with mine when its cold out and it seals most air out very well.
