Image hosting site to replace Photo Bucket with
#1
Getting ready to head out in the AM to do a 2/3-state, 2/3 day (Utah-Wy- Idaho) 800 mile solo loop on the CB1100. Plan to fish, camp off the bike and visit a number of historical sites. Afterwards I want to do a post ride report with pics in our Seat Time Forum.

My problem is I'm at 99% capacity on Photo Bucket and don't want to delete any pictures there as previous threads I've posted them in will be degraded by the missing pics.

I'm not cheap and know I could pay for more memory there but truth be told I'm not happy with them (even if it is FREE). Photo Bucket's site seems to have become unstable as of late. It's frozen up on me so many times I've lost count and it's crazy slow while trying to maneuver around in the library. Plus the multitude of ads have become tiresome.

Anybody have a suggestion?

no suggestion, but i agree with the ad problem. i suspect that if you pay, those will go away. unlike you, though, i am cheap. lol

I'm really cheap and I've migrated to https://postimage.org/. It's not ad free, but it is quicker than Photobucket.

Is the solution to your full capacity issue as simple as opening a second Photobucket account?

Enjoy your trip. We're expecting snow at the highest elevations in Colorado this weekend. Hope the wet chilly weather doesn't encroach on your turf.

You know, I hadn't thought of that. didn't know if they allow it if you use the same e-mail address.

Thunderstorms projected Friday (tomorrow) in my general riding area..6500 to 7200 feet max elevation tomorrow...South Pass/Lander/Dubois all in Wyoming. Sat and Sunday look OK as of now. Bringing and can dress for the worst just in case....jacket liner/ Gauntlets/water proof boots/heavy chaps yada yada. I used to ice fish w/o a house in 30 below and hunt in the same temps up in North Dakota. As long as the roads don't ice around the Grand Tetons and over Togwootee Pass on Saturday I should be OK.....Biker

May I suggest you consider this as two separate problems:

1) A public site to host the photographs you include in forum posts and/or send to friends by a link in an e-mail.

2) Archival storage for your "out-of-camera" photo production.

With all its failings, PhotoBucket appears to me to be an adequate solution for (1). There certainly are others, Dropbox comes to mind.

As for (2); it very much depends on your requirements. In most cases, the best option will be operating your own server on an old salvaged desktop and pair of large hard drives (one attached to the computer, the other as a backup stored off-site).

I use postimage too. I works just fine for me.
