Pilgrimage to Puglia
#1

First 2 days of my trip to Southern Italy is in the books, 875kms so far.
Day 1: Rome to Termoli, via Ortona. The ride through Abbruzzo was ok, threatened rain but arrived dry in Ortona. My reason for stopping in Ortona was to visit the Canadian War Cemetery, very poignant reminder to take time to thank our veterans. They gave everything.

Day 2: Termoli to Lecce via Parco Gargano. Amazing vistas through some of the most amazing Adriatic country side. Lecce is a world class city, is called the Florance of the South.

Puglia, Abruzzo????????? Really? Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
Come on man, show me some vineyards or at least some wine labels! LOL!!! Big Grin Just playin' with you. I'm so envious of you CB'ers that live and ride around/through some of the greatest wine producing regions this planet has to offer. Worship

Thanks for the kind words, more to come. Inline4 - you are right and wrong, both Abbruzzo and Puglia are great wine regions, however as it is still early spring there is not a single grape to photograph and bare vines are not that photogenic. However here is a picture from a vineyard in Abbruzzo last October.

Day 3-4: Lecce, Otranto, Gallipoli, Puglia to Tropea, Calabria. Seat time: 1509kms

Got crushed by rain coming through the Calabria mountains, wind was very strong, need a wind screen for touring badly. CB has done everything I have asked, fuel consumption is not great, seat is killing me. Having an absolute blast! On to Sicily tomorrow!
