Special Lane for Motorcycle
#1

Just wondering are there other country with special motorcycle lane for motorcyclist? Below are the short trip I took in one of the motorcycle lane in Malaysia. Tight road for a big bike. But these are the better part of the lane which I took, only about 30% of the whole stretch. Once a while will see some fallen trees or floods under tunnel section, and sometimes with missing/stolen drain cover. And any crash will be highly damaging on part with metal barrier on both side. And if you are bad luck enough, you will find yourself trapped on the part where both side are metal barrier and the road in front blocked, and can't make a U-Turn due to big bike turning radius. If you guys had a chance to visit Malaysia in the future, do rent a moped and try these exciting road out...

Legal disclaimer: The meter is not working correctly and the speed shown on the meter are not correct. Rider always follow speed limits.

I've been to Singapore and Malaysia for work many times, and know how many people are on bikes (with their jackets back to front when it rains). Where are all the others? I've never been alone anywhere over there, let alone on the road!
I think you just might have sent the law off your trail with that disclaimer, though. Big Grin

Well, the video is shot during a public holiday. And most biker are using the main road (which will get them traffic ticket), hence the empty and lonely road.

Interesting.

That is a weird windshield though. Reminds me of a magnifying glass in shape lol.

That is fascinating that there are separate roads for motorcycles. Here in California, we don't have motorcycle-specific roads, but bikes can use the car pool lane, which is reserved for cars with at least two occupants.

In certain parts of L.A. we do have one or two roads for buses only. in the rebuilding of our light rail and public transportation system, some former rail routes, where the tracks were removed years ago, have become bus roads.

The windshield is a birthday present from wife. Its actually a MRA road shield classic. I actually kind of like it and it also protect my camera from dust. The angle of tilt had made it look like a magnifying glass.
I did some online reading and guess motorcycle lane is only common in south east asia where moped are everywhere. Other countries have restrictions on motorcycle on freeway and lane spliting but haven't see any bike lane anywhere.

Interesting concept. I wish it would make it to the US.

Wow - more infrastructure. That is indeed interesting. There is none of that in SoON, and I don't think elsewhere in Canada.

If they were to implement such in the Toronto, Ontario area, I suspect it would be inundated with electric scooters/bikes even if restricted for motorcycles.

In a certain way, I think, even solo motorcyclist can use diamond marked lanes, at least in Ontario...??

Motorcycles can use the HOV lane in CA, and legally filter traffic, with certain restrictions.
