Could also contact a German member named Django. He could give you insight into benefit of shipping (if any) your bike here. He completed a cross country ride on his German model Sport touring Honda.

I would suggest posting the same question on the ADVRider site which has a much larger membership than CB1100 (no offense). In New Jersey you currently need an appointment to register any vehicle which can take weeks. Buying from a dealer who can supply a plate immediately or renting are probably your best right now but that might change as Covid dwindles.

You might be able to save or maybe even make some money if you buy before you get here and sell on your way out. Markets and prices change considerably depending on the region. I live in in NJ near NYC and everything is more expensive. In many places used bikes will be be cheaper. Buffalo NY, for example, is a place I always see better prices on CraigsList. (https://buffalo.craigslist.org/d/motorcy...earch/mca) Here in the US, CraigsList is not necessarily just for perverts. Not judging. One option would be buy in a rurla area and sell newa a big city. I bet you could aslo find someone with a registered bike for sale, give them the asking price, ride around for however long you like on their registration, and sell it back to them , or someone else at the end of the trip. Of course this will require some leg work. If you find or trust someone over here, pay them to buy, register and insure the cycle for you before you get here. The hardest part of your plan will indeed be getting an appointment to title your cycle and getting a title without being a resident of some kind. If you find a bike around North Jersey/NYC, I'd help you out for a small fee.

Mmm, yeah, Buffalo NY. While picking up a discounted Honda CB1100, one could take in a discounted Toronto Maples Leafs vs. Buffalo Sabres game. Always a treat.

I thought about this, but honestly I think cost are prohibitive. Not if one rents for 10 days, but certainly for anything over a months. ...
Comes on top that I won't find a CB1100, would I ?

There are two areas which would work best for me :
Georgia/Alabama or Arizona/Utah.

To all of you, and to Tom too, thanks for really good advice !! And no doubt, the fee I wouldn't mind in the least.
