Cb1100 EX tire dilemma

I know this has been beat to death, but I have 7,000 miles on ‘17 cb and need to replace tires again( 2nd set). Average 3,500 mi life ( I live on a mountain and ride pretty hard). The only tubed tire that fits the bike is the oem Dunlop 205 Sportmax which is not available anywhere! . My dealer is only place I can find them for $465.00 plus 180 install. I asked dealer if they could put tubes in a tubeless tire and they were very much against it, and said it was dangerous? I trust them- largest Honda dealer US. I am po'd as this is really ruining my experience with the bike. Very impractical and expensive! Any suggestions?

Why do you want to put tubed tires on your CB?

He doent his bike requires tubed tires, but he cant find much offering, so he wants to buy tubeless tires and put tubes in them.

I know people who have done that without issue. They do tend to run hotter, but I'm not sure by how much.

If I was only getting 3500 miles out of a set of tires and there were no other tires available, I'd sure consider it.

Yes the ‘17 EX is the only cb with tubed tires.

I have been running tubes in tubeless tires for a long time now on my '14 EX. The tires I have used are the Metzeler Z8, which I am very happy with and there has never been an issue.

The EX with spokes must run a tube tire unless you seal off the spokes inside the rim. This is what makes buying tires a pain. Your 2014 must be an DLX since 2017 was the first year for the EX I believe.

I think I am going to order a rim sealing kit by Out Ex. It is almost $100 per tire, but lets you go tubless.

Tev62 made some very informative posts about his conversion from tubed to tubeless using the Bart Factory system. Think I'll do this to my EX when the time comes for new tyres. Italy might be a bit far for you to post your wheels though.

Actually, I am in Europe where there was an EX with spoke wheels in 2014. The DLX was in the US.

I did find the OEM Dunlop tires for my 2017 at my local dealer but that was two years ago , not cheap but I do like the tires.
