CB1100 Vs CB1000C
#1
I think the first big Honda I coveted was the 1983 CB1000 Custom. The first Honda I really wanted was of course the CT70 and then the MR 50, but I digress. I still see some nice CB1000Cs for sale at pretty reasonable prices and wonder if anyone here has had one. How does it generally compare to CB1100. They look like they might be more comfortable and I think it's probably a faster bike. Not sure about about acceleration and performance. Maintenance may be an issue too. I love my 2013 but I'd love to hear your comparisons.

While I didn’t have the CB1000, I did have a CB900 Custom. If memory serves me, it seems about as quick as the CB1100. However the CB900C was faster. It had no speed limiter. You just opened it up and it would give you everything it could. I only know this because I got pulled over doing 129 mph two up. If I was solo and tucked, I think I could have mustered another couple mph before it ran out of breath. I am pretty sure based on what others here have mentioned, that the new CB’s won’t touch that top end without an ECU flash, which apparently isn’t an option anymore. I can say the CB1100 handles better than my old CB900C, hands down. Braking is better, easier starts due to fuel injection and no choke, better throttle response, etc.

But the older bikes have that nostalgia appeal that’s hard to beat. If I had both in my garage, I would probably feel guilty as I walked by the old bike and rode the new every time.
