I had seen a P51 at an airshow several years ago and that plane had the most soulfull thunderous sound of any internal combustion engine I had ever heard!!!! Iconic car, motorcycle, and plane!! Thanks for sharing Mr. ChipBeck!!!!

I love your GT chip. My favorite car ever. I was out riding my bicycle here in Dearborn a couple of weekends ago. My favorite route takes me right in front of the Automotive Hall of fame on Oakwood. Was I ever surprised to see about 20 GT's parked in front of the place. Some kind of function going on inside. Most were from Michigan, Ontario, Pennsylvania and New York. One was from Wisconsin. I only saw one trailer so I think most of them were driven here. One guy even had a trailer hitch on his GT with a small trailer carrying four blistered up racing slicks and a tool compartment.

Kind of like my experience with the CB11, when I bought the GT I told myself that I'm going to leave it stock!!! No mods. Within a month I started to crack. Hey, a pulley and tune will bump it from 550 to 650 HP and that would be OK. Then, how about getting rid of that giant muffler for something lighter and better sounding. The rear bumper delete looks really good. How about all of the carbon fiber parts too. Short shifter, trans cooler, 3-way adjustable Penski gas nitrogen coil-overs will make it handle better, Hoosier R-6 DOT street legal (barely) race slicks, and it went on and on. Pretty soon my stock GT was in boxes in my storage room. But the biggest change came when I started racing the standing mile. A stock GT (supercharged) has 550 HP and puts about 500 to the rear wheels. That will propel you to 170+ MPH in the standing mile. Replacing the stock supercharger with a 4.0L Whipple Supercharger will get you to 200 MPH in the standing mile. But I went all the way by removing my supercharger and having a one of a kind twin-turbo system installed by Heffner Performance and improved 2 years later by Guyett Performance in Fresno, California. Two 64mm billet wheel, ceramic bearing, air cooled, Precision Turbos feed my Accufab built 5.4 liter Ford GT engine 2 gallons of C-16 116 octane race fuel a minute at full throttle. On the dyno my yellow GT now puts 1146 HP to the rear wheels, about 1350 HP at the crank. My best Texas Mile result so far is 220.1 MPH, the run took 24.5 seconds. The last photo below was taken as I crossed the finish line. That was a thrill, 0 to over 220 MPH in under 25 seconds. It would take a couple volumes to detail all of the "Chip Beck Spec" items on the yellow car. Cheers.

Chip- Wow is all I can say! There is a local family that I believe owns 4 or 5 of these cars between them. I've seen them all in one place at a few track events and what a sight. How is that fair that they have so many and I don't even have one! Of course they also own one of the largest collections of Shelby AC Cobras @ 20+ and a couple of those common old GT-40's.
