Well,
I would syphon as much out as possible. When I did that almost ALL came out. Very little was left to come out when I disconnected the fitting under the tank. ACK-cb11 has pulled the tank many times. He may have some other tips, like putting a rag under the fitting before disconnecting the fitting to catch any dribbles. I would guess you could just syphon out the gas, then run the bike until it runs the system dry.

You might consider filling the tank then adding some Sta-Bil. Just crank it once a week or so to keep oil circulated. I did that with my FI Blackbird and after 3 months she still started and ran great.

Inline,
I keep Sta-bil in mine all the time. And what you suggest is what I plan on doing this Winter. I want to keep the parts oiled!

As long as you have put in the "storage" dosage of a quality fuel stabilizer, you are better off just storing the bike with a full tank of fuel. The full tank reduces the exposure of the metal to moisture. Sometimes the best intentions (removing all the fuel) can lead to unintended consequences. If it was mine, I would just use the stabilizer as I intend to do up here in Maine for storage for at least four months. Here is a link to the official Honda storage guide. http://motorcycle.honda.ca/Content/motor...ide-EN.pdf

Stabilizer is the way to go. I don't need to store mine but I run Startron constantly. It's a stabilizer and it stops any ethonal problems also.
http://mystarbrite.com/startron/ I believe Meowguy is correct, full tank is better when stored. Maybe not in a month or two but that is how rust starts in tanks.

Hey cbdtran, don't you live in San Diego?
Believe me, there are a lot of us here that would love to trade riding seasons with you.

Marine Formula STA-BIL is better than standard. Helps neutralize the ethanol which creates moisture. The way to go with a full tank. I use this even during riding season.

Battery tender Jr and 2 oz per gallon of Seafoam during winter storage have kept my motorcycles running clean and strong for years. When I get ready to store them I fill the tanks, put in the seafoam, run the bikes for 10 miles to run the mixture through the carbs and fi system, fill the tires, put them on the tenders, and cover them up with a cotton sheet in the garage....and when I fire them up sometimes months later depending on the severity of an Ohio winter, they are always ready to go. Also works for weed eaters, leaf blowers, push mower, riding mower..... and snowblower ( during summer storage )

Same here, full tank, marine stabil ,fresh oil but I don't run the engine during storage period, I oil fog thru a running intake until it stalls, this stops the aluminum engine from oxidizing ie: aluminum oxide = sandpaper, same procedure for boat and snowmachine. and a battery tender...
