totally Agree!!! I do not get it how reviewers tend to say that it is down on power.

Have you ridden a ZX 14, A BMW 1000, a Ducati 1100, a Aprilia Tuono V4? Most motorcycle testers have tested these types of bikes which have tremendous amounts of power approaching 200 HP and capable of 190 mph. Comparatively speaking the CB is a mouse. More than enough for mortal human beings, but mild compared to what is available out there. Riding those other bikes would literally scare the crap out of most of us and are are only able to be ridden to their potential on the race track, yet are sold as street bikes to any 16 year old with cash or a cosigner.

I was going to splurge on a Panigale this year, my 'last bike'... Then I got realistic about what kind of riding I would actually do on such a thing. I'm not a track day person (and I'm not sure I'd want to push it too much on such an expensive toy). It was clear that I'd spend most of my time cruising scenery and more than occasionally going way too fast for road conditions. For me it'd be an expensive good-looking waste.. I got the CB1100 instead, a good-looking fulfilling ride, entertaining at reasonable road speeds.

I have a Triumph Street triple R (Coverted to the ParkinGo Series Race bike) and 2012 Tuono V4 besides the CB1100 and to me the cb is quick but maybe its becuase of Los Angeles gridlock that the CB slices and dices through traffic.

I've ridden a Ducati Diavel (loved it and am buying next June) and my XR is in the process of getting a 110 hp engine package done to it but the CB is not what I'd call slow or boring. I'm not a top speed guy. I'm more a fan of acceleration and this has nothing to be ashamed of in that department. Plus it has an intangible character that bikes like the ZX14 or S1000rr just can't match. They are soulless husks that without their performance, would be like any other sport bike draped in plastic and bright colours. I did thoroughly enjoy the CB1000r however. I prefer it to the CBR1000RR which isn't fun below 100 mph.

Right you are ! I can cruise all day at 70-75 mph but above 80 I just don't feel like I'm in as much control as I should be. I rode home last weekend with 5 other riders who were on Goldwings and a buddy who rides a BMW R1000 ( sick bike !!!) and I had to let them ride on ahead...I just couldn't keep up with them on the interstate.

Yep, my 900 Ninja felt comfortable on the freeway doing 80-90 on longer trips, luckily the type of riding I do on my CB1100 is exploring small back roads and around town, I don't spend much time above 60MPH, and don't like too on the CB, even with my small fairing.

I forgot how much a small fairing can make a different. I've had my XR up to it's 7200 rpm rev limit in fifth which is about 210 km/h and at 160 (highest I've taken it yet) the CB is quite a bit more windy!

I believe the Ferret and I are about of the same vintage and I must say I agree with him. This CB is PLENTY of motorcycle for me. Double up riding perhaps I'd want something else if I did double up. Man at my age it isn't about speed. I'm getting there ENTIRELY too fast as it is.

You young guys scare the dickens out of me when you talk about the bikes you ride and the manor in which you ride them. It only takes a fraction of a second and then the fun begins. More power to ya and GOD bless.

Sport bikes, frankly what good are they on the highways? I hear them running past my house at the speed of sound and all I can think is man what an idiot. No offense meant but at some point in life a fellow should begin to understand the balance between fun and good judgement. Save it for the track (and that's certainly risky enough) . With all the things the government is restricting I've been very surprised they allow the super bikes on the road. At 160 miles per if a june bug hits your helmet it's going to about take your head off.

Not for this old man.

I had a 2006 Ducati Sport 1000 I thought was fast, then I rode my brother in-law's ZX-14, and that felt like a jet. I wouldn't say it's fun exactly and I'm not going to miss being bent over on the torture rack.

I long ago decided that "I" am a cruiser, no matter what bike I am on. Have done several multithousand mile trips (including coast to coast). To me, if you are in a hurry, a motorcycle is probably the wrong choice, anyway.

The use of motorcycles has changed dramatically in the last 30 years. Yesterday I saw an older couple traveling together and I found it interesting what they were aboard. The gentlemen was driving a Harley Trike pulling a trailer and the wife was on a nice looking Can Am reverse trike. That certainly is the other end of the bell curve to the sport bikes.

I don't know how I personally feel about traveling with that gear but I certainly admire the folks who are able and willing to do it and especially as a married couple in their apparent later years.

I guess my thoughts are if you have to travel with that much gear is it still fun? I don't use my motorcycles for transportation or travel so I can't say.

Just considering the types of bikes and their application. You've got the speed demons riding crotch rockets and the other end: People with large very expensive bikes with all the gear and equipped to apparently travel shore to shore in comfort (I guess)

Neither extreme is my style of biking but that's OK. I too am a cruiser. I take it easy and ride conservatively hoping to get there and to ride tomorrow. Riding cross country well too old for that now.
