How are CB1100s selling in your neck of the woods?

My dealer got another one in yesterday...going home with someone today

My dealer got a non-ABS one several weeks ago. Lots of tire kickers but no takers. That having been said, March weather was miserable here (NC) so they have not had the usual Spring foot traffic. They got an ABS one yesterday and it went home with me today. I'm not sure what it means but he was able to get it about three weeks earlier than his initial promise date. (Although he seems to be of the type that sets the expectations really low just in case something happens. For example, earlier this week he said it wouldn't even be shipped until today and yesterday he sent me pics of the crate as it hit their loading dock. I much prefer that approach, i.e, beating expectations)

I ordered an ABS bike, the dealer got in a non-ABS and is now waiting to hear how soon they can get an ABS bike. Soon, I hope.

The CB11s have been selling nicely at my local dealer. Initially, they got two non-ABS models at the end of March. The first one was pre-sold months before. I picked up the second one 4/5 and a truck had just arrived with two more CB11s one ABS, one plain.

The next day the plain one was sold and shipped to a guy in Las Vegas and the ABS model was on the floor. I heard that one was also sold in the last few weeks and they're not expecting any more until mid-May.

Before I got mine, I'd visited 3 other dealers in town. All of them said they were only getting 1 bike and it had already been sold. I can't speak for the rest of the country, but they seem pretty popular around here.

Mine was the second one they sold, but they did say they only have one ABS version in the pipeline that they already have a deposit for. They also said they are getting calls from people that have deposits at other dealers, for ABS, that are ready to abandon if they had one in stock.

Does anybody know how they are alloted to the dealers? Mine got one, which I bought, but on ADV they said some dealers got a few, then some more. My dealer SAID he couldn't get anymore, but who knows?

I believe dealers are given opportunity to place orders and then Honda decides who gets how many of what based on dealers previous sales, and availability of product. A dealer may order 3 but only receive 1. Then again, he may order 1, receive it and find out he can order more.

The designated Powerhouse dealers get preference when it comes to what and how many they can order. One of the prerequisites of being a Powerhouse dealer is that you aren't a multi-line dealer, but sell exclusively Hondas.

When I picked up my bike, I happened to run into the American Honda rep. He was there to supervise delivery and setup of the new CB500Rs.

I asked him about CB11 sales and he said that they most of the dealers had only ordered 1 bike, not knowing if they would sell. Some didn't order any at all. He said there are plenty of CB11s, but they don't ship a boatload unless they have orders. I think we'll be seeing a lot more in the next month or so.

The guy also mentioned that the CB11 is the hands down favorite bike of all the executives at American Honda. They've been riding the snot out of the U.S. prototypes for over 2 years now. I asked if all these executive types were in their 50s or older and he said every last one.

BTW - My dealer is a Honda-only dealer and the highest volume seller in the state. That might explain why they got 4 of them in the first week.

Today my dealer said they have another one on the way. Guess they COULD order more. Forgot to ask if it was ABS or not.
