Actually... the orig CB750's were a bit frumpy, so the '14 is
even more like them than the '13. Love it!! Clap

For me the changes are certainly enough to justify paying the extra coin to move up. The problem is, if one wants to call it that, it's still hard to buy something sight unseen. With all due respect to Ferret, I think I'm going to wait until I see one 'in the flesh'... before I make the commitment. It interesting... when you see the '14 in the photos by itself, the juices really start to flow...again. But when you see the '13 and the '14 side by side (or top vs. bottom like in one of the threads...) the '13 looks sportier... while the '14 looks almost frumpy by comparison. But... the upgrades as previously listed, once seen live, will certainly seal the deal. Daytona can't get here fast enough...

After riding BMW's for 40 years, I guess frumpy doesn't bother me, or I can't recognize it. If there is one thing I would buy sight unseen it would be a Honda....any Honda. As far a sporty styling is concerned, there's not a gnat's worth of difference to me, except for the upgrades that make it better. The 1" higher bars might be frumpier but that's a pretty small difference. The 4 into 2 exhaust is certainly less sportier than the 4 into 1, which is one of the reasons why CB750 owners were changing to 4 into 1's back in the old days. But I have ALWAYS thought 4 into 2 would be the ideal exhaust, even in the 4 into 4 days.

As I said, the CB is one thing I wouldn't hesitate buying sight unseen, and I'll do it if I can. Having said that, I already bought a new Indian Chief Classic sight unseen. And, since I'm recovering from surgery and learning to walk again, I haven't even been able to ride it yet. But, it has only recently been finished from having a sidecar attached. But, I'm not worried in the least because my best friend (who has a 2013 CB) has done the sidecar work. He has ridden it and I trust him as much as myself. He is thrilled with the bike and the sidecar. I'm thrilled too. If I get a chance (when I recover the $ hit from the Indian soon enough), I will join Ferret and order a DLX. The upgrades to the DLX make it exactly what I was hoping for. BTW, I've always had at least 2 motorcycles in my garage, sometimes three, but this is the first time I will have had two new ones. It would be a lie if I said it didn't hurt!

I've been following this thread, but not weighing in, as uninterested in 'upgrading' to a '14. I happen to like the color and exhaust setup of my '13. But spending an additional $6k for what amounts to minor improvements doesn't make sense. Now, very little of what we do as motorbike enthusiasts makes sense, but....

If I were to spend $6k, I would keep the '13, throw $1k towards some Farkles, and buy a $5k vintage bike.

One might argue that it doesn't make sense to own 7 motorcycles either... or to spend $6000 on a weeks vacation... or to pay that amount annually to dock a boat... but many of us have done that and/or more.
My view... If it's what you want, can afford, and justify (to the boss...), then as
Nike says... Just Do It.

I agree, as I said, very little of what we do makes sense, as long as you're happy. 7 motorcycles makes sense to me, Maybe I should have stopped there!

This looks beautiful! Great seat. I love the black model Cool
Seems that your Bagster cover fits better at the Honda logo than mine. Did you tweak it somehow?

Now that we know the answer to the question 'if'... will I (and many of you...) really pull the plug? I want the 6 speed, the dual pipes, and the chrome double wall headers with their beautiful straight waterfall. And I LOVE the red color, but don't really care about the wheels, instrumentation, tank, etc.. BUT... how much will the difference be? What do you think? Here's my thoughts... My '13 will probably still have less than 2500 miles on it by April. I paid $9300 for it (before taxes and fees). I 'think' the trade in value will be about $7000. The '14 EX will sticker for $11900 (if I've read right). But, I bet that I can get the bike for $11000. $11000 minus $7000 leaves a net cost to me of $4000.... again, before taxes. Question? Am I close to what you think? And is the trade worth it? I am not a high mileage rider... and seldom trade. But my reason for buying this bike is to have one as close to the original 750 as I can get... and unless they come out with a 4 pipe model next year, this fits the bill much better than the '13. Your thoughts?

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned on here anywhere but I'm seeing the '13s advertised for $8999 around me now.
