Rattle noise on instrument panel
#1
after a first 1000 miles, my bike develops rattle noise I believe from instrument panel. It always happens when start the engine first time of the day when the engine is cold in first gear at less than 10 MPH from complete stop, as the engine warms up after a mile or so, the rattle noise disappears in same condition. I look at the engine, nothing loosed, the noise appears from the instrument but I am not certain.

Anyone has this problem???

I had a rattle from time to time.............finally saw the problem my key ring was too big and it was flopping around causing a rattle sound, hope yours is that easy.

single key with no attachment, as I said, only when first start of the day, rattle noise from stop to 10-15 MPH and disappears after a mile or so. obviously something is loosed until the engine warms up. I look closely all the wires contact with metals, nothing unusual.

Mine has the same thing. It seems to be worse when the outside temperature is colder. Like you, I'm pretty sure it's in the instrument panel. One of these days I'll see if I can track it down...or if it goes away once the weather warms up, just forget about it.

Try to forget about it, that is. Little things like that always bother me for some reason.

I find that mine has some clicks and rattling noises at start up, but they seem to go away once warmed up and ridden a few miles. I have a high frequency hearing loss, so it is difficult sometimes to localize the noises, but they do seem to go away when warm.

One of the things I like about this bike is that it seems to get smoother and better as you go. Kind of like me, I'm an old working fart, takes me a little while to limber up, then I'm good to go! Big Grin

It's definitely a nice, smooth bike. I actually located the source of the noise (I think) yesterday afternoon. While I was warming it up, I revved it to the RPM where the noise happens (like 1800-2000, I think) and listened closely to the front of the bike. Turns out it was the headlight vibrating....put my hand on it and it stopped. So I'm not sure if it's too tight, too loose, or just gonna vibrate no matter what....but I'll probably play around with it and see if I can stop the noise.

Was the headlight bucket rattling side to side or up and down? Or against something else? Trying to envision what could be rattling.

Yes, keep us informed.

I will try when I ride again. again, the rattle noise happens only at start up, then stop after 1/2 mile, and only at the first ride of the day. my bike doesn't rattle at rest, but the source might be common

I like the idea of a "working fart". It's sort of different from a "broken fart" or an "unemployed fart".

I'm not sure how you tell the difference though. Big Grin
