Had my 2014 less than one month now, and just passed 1,000 miles. Today I turned the key and what used to be a gentle, hushed hum of the electric fuel pump beneath the fuel tank as the instruments cycle through their start-up routine, has suddenly become much, much louder. If you put your ear on the fuel tank and listen as you turn the key you still hear what sounds like the original, gentle hum of an electric motor, but it is joined by a much louder buzz that sounds like a solenoid valve that is defective and is attempting to cycle at about 60 hertz, which is so loud it creates a resonance in the fuel tank (and the fuel tank is 3/4+ full). Has anybody else experienced a similar situation? I guess it's back to the dealer, again.

Yeah, sometimes it's quiet when I switch her on, sometimes it's a bit buzzy I guess. Depends on how hard I'm listening (usually not much through my ear plugs) Machines make noises...maybe it's an ambient temperature dependent thing, who knows? Maybe you're worrying a bit too much, you think you've got a dud bike because of the injection issues? My advice is to take it for a nice long spin. If it's still bugging you have it looked at when you get it serviced.

I've heard of a defective canister purge valve doing that. Its the thing on the front of the air box. From the RH side you see the wires with the rubber elbow going to it.

It's under warranty, take it back to the dealer to have a listen/look.

Thank you very much Deanohh. I'll mention this to the dealer when I see them on Saturday and see what they say.

I had the same issue months ago. It started after I passed my 2K mile mark. I now have over 5K miles and the bike runs excellent, no issues and still reliable. The loud fuel pump still there at times. I did a search on Google and on Youtube, and I found that some people had similar issues with loud fuel pump with their Harleys, Yamaha, Suzuki, etc.

My HD 2013, was making that noise from almost new. Temperature, humidity were an important factor. I rode 5500 miles with the buzzing sounds almost every time I turned the ignition on. I decided to ride it anyway until it breaks or fail. It never did.

My 2013 did that from time to time. Sometimes the pump was loud and I'd stop it and restart it and it would be quiet the second time around.
