1977 was a good fun year for me. I was in the Navy on the USS Constellation on a WESPAC cruise. I bought a 1977 1/2 Yamaha XS750 at the Navy Exchange in Yokosuka, Japan and brought it home on the carrier. And I weighed about the same as you and I was 24!

My confession is that I'm too afraid or too lazy to wrench on my bikes. I know I could if I'd just read up on things and watch some youtube clips but I don't even change my own oil. I lube the chain but even that is suspect.

Jim: there is nothing wrong not knowing how to wrench on your bike! The oil change is very easy on the cb filter easy to get to and one drain bolt. Pour in 4 quarts of oil. But at least when you take it to a dealer you have records on file if ever needed! I'm sure there is stuff that you can do that a lot of us guys can't. I'm a member for several years of 4 other forums which I only use this one now

And that's due to another member telling me about tapatalk ( thanks Guth for joining tapatalk ) different people make the world go around and that's how we survive! If we where all doctors we would all starve due to no farmers lol.

Met a friend for breakfast and had to park in an alley with uneven pavement. Came to a stop, foot goes down a little farther than expected and before I know it I feel my brand new cb with less than 10 miles on it slipping past the point of no return. Managed to stop the downward progress but was caught in a very bad position with no leverage. Mercifully/unfortunately no one was around to laugh or render aid as I sat there wishing I had engine guards and thinking what a &@$@# nightmare. Slowly started hopping my right leg to gain ground and muscle the silly thing upright. No contact was made with the pavement and no witnesses as far as I know. Going to check YouTube now for recently uploaded "idiots on motorcycles" videos to see if I'm right.

Well, after exactly 1 week of ownership, dropped the bike today. Just finished washing it, and wanted to wheel it over and put it on the center stand to take a couple pictures. My shoe must've been pretty wet, and it slipped right off the peg for the center stand, and the bike tipped away from me (of course). Anything I tried beyond that point was futile and down she went.
Damage isn't too bad. I installed SW-Motech crash bars the day after I got the bike and they did the trick. Right crash bar took 90% of the scuffs, which I really don't care about; that's what it's there for. The bar-end took the rest, but I'll be swapping it out anyways when I get my heated grips. There is the tiniest of scratches on my exhaust, but other than that it seems everything else got out unscathed.
I'm pretty pissed off for dropping a week old bike, considering I had my last bike for 6 years without dropping it. That center stand level is not only slick, but rounded too. Carelessness on my part, but also a poor design if you ask me.

I agree it should have a flat and cleated place for your foot. If you put bike on center stand with tennis shoes on it hurts the bottom of your foot with the round knob (ouch )

Yesterday, I put the tank bag on the bike for the first time. While on the bike, I was maneuvering the bike around my driveway to get the mike out of the garage and close the door with the keypad by the door. So, a lot of see-sawing of the bars.
I found out that the bag was positioned exactly in the right place to hit the horn button on the left and the emergency flashers on the right. So my neighbors, if they were paying attention, got to see me alternatively honking my horn and turning my flashers on and off. My wife came to the door to see what the hell was going on. I quickly departed to avoid any further humiliation. Next time, I put the bag slightly lower on the tank - problem solved.
