I can give it and I can take it !

Well I finally had a chance to check the 2013's 5th gear @ 60mph: ~3300 rpm.
The 2014's 2750 rpm overdrive would be awfully nice, but I don't think it justifies trading in. Enjoy the extra gas mileage, you lucky new owners!

Took off for a ride this morning and went a whole 2 1/2 miles before inadvertantly blowing the horn instead of signaling a turn. 7 miles later I did it again when changing lanes to go around someone. naturally they thought I was blowing the horn at them and gave me " the look". 40 miles later it happened a third time. I agree....I'm having a real hard time getting used to it too.

I'm use to mine. But when I get my new manual I will find out if you can put the 13 switch on the 14. I would think yes but with out manual wiring digram I can't say for sure. Hope to have it next week. Sorry taken so long but it's been out of my hands.

The 2013 CB 1100 is so smooth and has plenty of torque that it will effortlessly run any legal in the US without even breathing hard. Sure the rpms will be a little higher than it would with the 6th speed, but the machine is hardly bothered running any reasonable speed in 5th. I rode Emptysea's 13 the other day while he was riding my dlx. We were running between 75 and 80 and to tell you the truth I didn't give one minutes thought to it being only a 5 speed.
other things are what sold me on the 14 DLX, cosmetic things, and it it had been a 5 speed I still would have traded up for the pipes alone.

I think the first thing to confirm is: is the frame identical between the standard and deluxe?

I would have to look at a 13 model up close. I have never seen one at a dealer. With the rear rack not fitting the 14 deluxe something is different. The CB don't have a bolt on sub frame like the sport bikes! But I would think the pipes would fit.
