Ergonomics

Hello,
I'm just about ready to purchase a 2014 DLX but would like to know if the ergonomics will be good for me. I did do a nice test ride at Americade last month. But sometimes that's just not enough time. I'm 5'6 and have been riding An HD Road King for a while. So the position is very different. My concern is that the forward lean will be a problem. Can anyone that is close to my height comment on the ergonomics relating to forward lean and causing arm and shoulder strain.

I understand your concern, I used to ride a BMW K1300S which was great for the first few hours, but I would start feeling fatigued after that. although I am slightly taller, I did a lot of research before I bought my cb1100. I found this site http://cycle-ergo.com/ to be invaluable in making my decission. now I can ride all day with no issues. good luck .

I am 5'7", I don't like to ride bending forward either, I generally hug the tank which puts me in a more upright position. I know from years of cycling that it takes time to adjust to new positions. I am pretty comfortable now although I just received my new corbin seat and it looks like I have to go through the process again.

I'm 5'6", and had similar problems. So far, I've swapped out for a Japan/Australia spec seat (1" lower), and turned the bars back almost a quarter turn. If this doesn't work, I'll add risers next.

5'6" here too and I thought the bike fit me like a glove. Maybe a tad too much knee bend, but I thought the ergos were really good.

Funny thing is, after spending 4 days on my ST 1300 this week, I got on the CB and dang the bars were so high it felt really strange. Now after riding the CB for 3 days straight it feels normal lol.

Also 5' 6" ( nice to see so many here of average height) and I find the ergos of the 2013 perfect. Have changed nothing.

A little forward lean can be good, as long as you aren't supporting your weight with your hands. You can also bring the bars back a little by loosening the clamps and rotating them back.

I'm about 5'7" and when I first rode the bike home I was worried I'd bought the wrong bike as I found I had more weight on my hands than I wanted or expected. I soon adjusted and have now found a very comfortable riding position. It does require an Air Hawk seat cushion for long rides though!

I am 5-5 and I ride a really comfy low VStar 1100 silverado cruiser that fits me like a glove.I bought my DLX because I love the look and how it sends me back to the 70s when I began riding.The CB is a little challenging for me in the comfort dept but I do love it and dont regret buying it for a minute,with that said I think some setback risers and a lower seat or maybe lowered suspension might be the ticket for more comfort for the vertically challenged.If I am going on longer rides I will jump on my Star and when I want the feel of a smooth missile that people love to look at I will ride my Gorgeous Honda.
