Here's two average mileage readouts from the same 90 mile trip on similar 20c days, mixed riding with some 80mph stretches involved.
CB1100rs and CB500x
I'm very impressed with the figures

(UK 1 gallon= 4.546 Litre)

That is very good. Best I've gotten is the low 50's. But; your gallon is 160 fluid ounces, in the US it's 128 fluid ounces.

I did meet 2 older ex bikers who now ride scooters (Suzuki Address and a Jango) and they only get into the 70 mpg range, they were very impressed with the 500x but sadly being well into their 80's need a step through now.

Yeah, seems scooters in the 400 to 500+ cc range won't have the efficiency of a manual gearbox motorcycle. Smaller cc scooters will hit 100 mpg U.S., but typically cannot do freeways. Smaller cc scooters seem to excel in urban environments in terms of economy, and motorcycles less so.

This testing may be a bit skewed though because that particular 500 twin from Honda is widely known for having exceptional fuel economy, even among other 500/400 cc motorcycles. I had one in the form of a cbr500r for a while and i was astonished at the fuel economy. For example, the kawasaki 400cc twin can barely match it despite having lower displacement. Youd have to get a yamaha r3 to find a twin motprcycle with better fuel economy than the Honda 500.

Is that the same twin they're using for Honda rebels 500s?
