Anybody have a dealer order a bike?

These aren't like some metric cruiser that can be had 2 years after the fact for reduced prices, these bikes are not that common and dealerships are not going to reduce them by any great amount. The DLX is even harder to come by, if you want new there is no better time than the present.

Yup, what he said. If you want new there's probably not much time left to land on one. If you want to wait for a used one no doubt there will be some but probably even fewer and farther between than the new ones are now. No metric that I know of ever seems to hold its value all that well - not like HD, for example. But the fact that these seem to be somewhat limited in production and aimed at almost a niche market should bode well for resale prices.

It all depends on if you want one now or want one quite a bit cheaper with a few miles on it later.
I disagree with those that say it won't be available or cheaper later on. They will be greatly reduced when they are discontinued, whenever that will be, I hope not for a long time, though.

My 2010 Honda NT was originally the same MSRP as the CBs- $10-11K. Dealers sold new '10s as new models for three years. Then they were discontinued in the U.S. market. Suddenly, you could buy them brand new for $6-7K from the same dealer. I bought mine from a dealer for $5400 with barely 1,000 miles on it, still under warranty for nine months.

My CB is a standard, not a DLX, but I bought a '13 this summer for 7K ( well, $7010) with 575 miles on it. And that was a price from a dealer. So there will be deals out there a year or two from now. Maybe not so many '13s or '14s brand new, but a few still new, and some very low mileage ones as people who just had to have "the look" of the bikes of their youth suddenly decided it's not the bike for them or get a new shiny model in their brains as their "gotta haves".

It will be cheaper no doubt, just saying there are a lot more standard CBs than DLX versions. It may not be that easy to find. I suspect those that went for the DLX are less prone to put up for sale until dead and then the wife or kids put it up for sale. Now the standard model no problem, lots of them around and they will be cheap.

The cheaper the standard model goes, the DLX will also go cheaper because they will compete with each other for sales. If I may respectfully say so....You are doing your thinking along the lines of someone who won't consider a standard, and who thinks the DLX is the Holy Grail of motorcycles. Many buyers don't feel that way.

Well okay but I have both bike and like them both equally. I guess I think of it like coins which I collect, less numbers made more valuable. I am probably wrong in concept. I could not find a 2013 ABS model last year and had to settle for the std. So that is where my thoughts are from.
