Question for you though, does your '13 and '14 feel significantly different riding? Different "personalities?" At least, aside from the 6th gear part.

I just rode both on Saturday after a break of 5 or 6 weeks so your question is perfectly timed. Both bikes handle the same. Mine both have the same Bridgestone tires. The 2013 feels a little faster from dead stop, the 2014 is reving less at same speed due to 6th gear. If doing lots of long distance the 6th gear would be nice, but if you never rode one you would never know. I can't really fell the additional weight. There are nice additional features on the 2014.

But in the end both bikes are similar except for the 6th gear, and all the other features Ferret has well described. Really no noticeable difference. If you wish we can discuss over the phone but make it soon as I travel for work soon.

The way I understand it is that the Honda dealer cant just order a CB1100 like Ford can a Mustang GT. Believe me, I have called BS on several stealers that gave me this lame excuse. I am still in process of digging deeper but I believe they may be telling the truth for once.

Now if they cant, that is not my problem. Its hondas problem the way I see it. Low volume maybe but its mass produced as far as I am concerned and I will not hear any BS about "hard to get". I will buy something else and not a HOnda even though this is what I want or keep what I have which I like.

Im a hard ass and call every bluff of any story a stealer tells that has the slightest wiff of BS in it. Janesville WI dealer has pretty much everybody covered on price on any Honda right now. So tempted. '

IN other news. I am a great uncle today and just texted my niece that pics need to be in order with great uncle Eric and his 2003 750 Nighthawk. You know, 50 years from now somebody will say what kind of motorcyle what that?

Thank you. I always related pics to car years ect that were took. I remember this niece with a 86 Toyota pickup when she was just a year or so old when she was a baby.

I do not believe that dealers can special order a bike from Honda. If this were possible, why wouldn't every dealer take a deposit from you and then put the order in? It's a guaranteed sale for him and no need for him to "buy" it from Honda and keep on his showroom floor unsold. I think what is being done are dealer transfers.

I've done auto transfers when I was a salesman and it's a true PITA. The dealer office has to do some paperwork, the dealership has to approve letting go something in the dealer swap, and it's usually something they don't want to let go, and the salesman needs to bring the swap and take back the vehicle he is selling to his customer. Depending on distance, the salesman is out of the dealership for several hours, maybe even the better part of a day. Also, when you show up at the other dealership, they just don't drop everything and take care of you. You will probably wait around more than an hour while their office does the paperwork, accept the swap vehicle, and goes and gets the vehicle you are taking. So you can't meet any new walk-ins at your dealership and may miss another sale. Since he's working on a commission basis, when all his time and trouble is factored in, he's probably making like $40 on the sale. This is why many dealers won't do it.

So, i've worked a couple deals. One offer to me slightly under 10k and one under 11k for a '14 DLX. What do you guys think these bikes will sell used for next year?

Well I would think about this a little differently. How many 2014 DLX bikes were sold? Not very many I hazard to guess. So odds of finding a used one is slim and the the distance involved as what are the odds of one being near you?

I think $10k for a DLX is a steal.

Why think of next year when they will be even cheaper in 4 years? These aren't like some metric cruiser that can be had 2 years after the fact for reduced prices, these bikes are not that common and dealerships are not going to reduce them by any great amount. The DLX is even harder to come by, if you want new there is no better time than the present.
