Need Photo of 2013 Key Cylinder
#1
I need a close up photo of the key cylinder on a 2013 CB1100. I thought I saw some last year or this spring when some of you were customizing wind screens and were measuring from the key cylinder to the top of the screen. I've searched this forum and looked and cannot find one.

I had a deer accident late July and just got my bike back and the instrument cluster has about a 1/4" gap above the key cylinder. It just doesn't seem right but I have nothing to compare it to. My recollection was that there was no gap and the cluster plastic sat right on top of the key cylinder.

I didn't see any photos or diagrams in the service manual that helped either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This help? If not tell me how you need the picture taken (angle etc)

Thanks Ferret. It helps a little. Is this from your 2014, or an old 2013 photo?
There definitely is a gap, I can't quite tell how much though. Regardless, I'm more inclined to think they did the repair correctly now.

So, the gap I'm talking about would be if the cluster came straight up towards you in your picture, coming up along the longitudinal axis of the cylinder. I first noticed it when I turned the key off and it felt like it was in a tunnel because the cluster was up higher than I remember. I'm at work now, but I'll see if I can post a photo that better shows what I'm talking about.

Thanks!

that's the 2014. I can probably dig up a photo of the 2013 if you want.

Here's my 13

I think I get what you're asking....is the ignition switch a 1/4 inch deeper or the cowling type thingie that surround the ignition switch 1/4 inch higher....?

Looking at my 13, the ignition is in the right place, however the black cowling thingie around the ignition looks like it is popped up on the ignition side only, it looks good/right around the speedo...I'm curious if pushing down on it will "snap" it in place, I don't know myself, you're call....

Thanks Headbanger. I'll take a look when I get home. Seems to me the whole cluster had a lot of play, like it was mounted on rubber mounts, maybe to reduce vibration?

Mickey, Headbanger, you've been a lot of help, as usual. I appreciate it!
