CB1100 dilemma
#1
Hi all, I have a 2006 Yamaha FZ6 sport standard at the moment and am probably going to sell it and get a CB1100. I found a dealership that has a 2013 model for $7100 OTD and a 2014 for $8000 OTD. I really like the near blacked out look of the 14 but am not against saving $900 and spending $300-400 of that to get a 13's tank/side covers painted (debating between white/black/silver). I guess my dilemma is figuring out whether it's worth an extra $900 for the added hassle of having to get the tank repainted and missing a few features that I may not care about.

I had found a thread a few days ago that detailed a complete list of differences between the standard versions of both years but am having trouble locating it again after about an hour or two of searching. Sorry to bring this topic up again as I'm sure it's already been beaten to death. Can anyone add to the below list or correct anything that I missed?

From what I recall the changes from 2013 to 2014 are:
6 speed vs 5 speed
Gear indicator/MPG/Trip functions added to cluster
Smaller turn signals
Handlebar position moved further away from rider
Headlight position moved higher on the forks
Various color differences (engine/brackets/grab handles/wheels/etc)
Header finish changed (?)
Oil sight glass removed (?)
Weight (?)

Thanks, I did indeed see that thread tonight. Is there a "difference between a 2013 standard and 2014 standard" list (vs 2014 deluxe)? Blush

2014 std got the 6 speed trans, updated instrument package and maybe smaller rear axle. I'm not sure about the axle

My FZ6 turns 6k RPM at 65MPH so the 3300 and 2800RPM of the CB1100's is virtually the same in my book. Lol. I don't think I would mind one less gear to shift through either.
I'm mainly checking to see what else I would be missing out on besides the cluster and 6 spd if I chose the '13.

sounds like you are used to a few rpms lol.

Seems to me an unlikely move. Why the CB?

I think I'm getting tired of the sportier look of my current bike. I got it 8 years ago when I was a good bit younger and kind of want something more old school. Guess my tastes started to change after I hit 30. Smile

You have a quarter, or someone can loan you one. Pick heads or tails, run with the choice. If you were leaning towards one or the other we could make a strong choice for either year. So flipping on it makes as much sense as any other method..... Big Grin

I would gladly pay an extra $1000 to have the 6 speed on the '14 bike. Love my '13 but it needs a 6 speed.
