For mine, I rode down a 50 mile stretch hitting a severe thunderstorm. I did what I could to vary the throttle every now and then, but I held it in 5th as if I would on a normal day doing 55mph. No issues to report here so far, 625 miles. Need to get that oil change done soon!

Need opinions. I poked around a bit and read some of the older threads. My plan was to break-in my CB on-isle for the summer and keep things quiet. Under 60, lots of shifting and braking. Now I'm considering on taking it to CT for a long weekend in mid-June. It has 250 miles, so a first service at around 300 is not an issue, can get that done before the trip. But, should I keep it off the highways for this trip ? I was thinking it might be a good idea to give it a few highway sprints at 60 to 75. At this point it's never been run higher than 35k and very rarely over 50mph...except the day I tried to keep up with ACK. Oh, I was totally unsuccessful.

I would do the oil change and ride it without regard for the low mileage. With a new bike I avoid long highway rides at a steady speed for the first few hundred miles but don't otherwise "baby" the motor.

What else is suppose to get done at the first service ? Should I just change the oil and do other things at 600 ? The only bike I have ever broken-in was the Ural and I changed the oil and filter, tranny fluid and reared fluid.

Other than the oil change the first service is mainly a check of chain tension and once over. I checked the torque of fasteners especially the triple tree, axle clamps and motor mounts. Everything checked out.

Break in period is 300 miles, so at 250 miles there's only 50 miles to go and the break in period is over.. I'd think that you should be able to ride it any way you like on the trip !

Awesome.
Being able to go to the rally is great.
Being able to go to the rally on your CB1100 would be priceless.

Did you also notice the thread is a year old? lol Popcorn is going to get stale.
I did notice that and was having a quiet chuckle. As far as run-in goes, I think that you, Ferret, and Red Mist have nailed it.
Maybe we should check with PilotPaul to find out out if his CB still runs? Or maybe he is waiting for this thread to finish before riding again

.
Cheers
