How much hp do you actually use?

Yea, I would love to try out that road.

When I got back on my bike, in felt aneemic. Sad
Make a note: (never ride a more powerful bike than your own)

Especially a 200hp V-Max. Not that many bikes around with that kind of power. It'll make most everything else feel anemic...
I take mine to the red line everyone once in a while to stretch her out a little, but most of my riding is below 75mph, and usually between 2k-5k rpm. I'll admit riding her once to the max speed. Wow, it does tap out right at 112mph. This is the fastest bike I've ever had, and it is way plenty fast, border line too fast for me. I have to constantly watch the speedo, and I'm always finding myself in need of slowing down rather than the other way around. It's the perfect bike. She is neither a Toyota Camry, or a Ferrari, but for sure a nice Corvette. I'm happy with the Corvette. Anything beyond that would way exceed my riding skills.

I know that the power provided is enough for most people and some say its the fastest bike they ever owned. But in reality with the speed limiter in place, as far as today's motorcycles measure up, its extreamly slow on the top end and by no means a fast bike at all. Its a great all around bike and will get up to speed quickly and smoothly but if anyone has ridden a modern larger displacement motorcycle it really does not hold its weight up top. You have to reprogram the ECM to get its potential power. People think that that 112 MPH is more than enough which is correct in most cases but for some of us which choose to unleash all it has this bike falls short. I've never owned a bike that has been limited before. This is the slowest bike I've ever owned, even my 600cc bikes from the middle 80s were faster than the CB1100. Some may say the bike wasn't intended for this but neither are most cruisers and they were all faster too. Its just a shame that i have to spend close to 400.00 bucks to get her true power and speed, but she's more than capable.

About 80mph.

About 80mph. How much gas do you have there, looking through your windshield looks like a far way away from any gas station. Looks like the middle of nowhere. Lol.

That's the kind of road to hit triple digits! I heard on some roads in Montana there are no speed limits Banana

then you run out of gas in the middle of nowhere

then you run out of gas in the middle of nowhere At that spot I was 16 miles from the nearest town (with dozens of gas stations).
Back in the '90s we had a "reasonable and prudent" limit which allowed people to make their own decision on what speed was safe for them considering the road conditions, weather, vehicle condition etc. That got tossed out after a few years because so many people either abused it or had no idea what "reasonable and prudent" meant.
I remember once doing 85 in my pickup on the interstate and getting passed by a Mercedes going so fast that I could only tell the make of the car and see the Minnesota plate on it. I figure he was doing 130-140.
They are now wanting to raise the limit from 75mph to 80 on the interstates between cities.
And yeah, I've been to the middle of nowhere many times but never ran out of gas!Thumbs UpCelebrate
As far as hp is concerned, if you want to go fast and feel tons of power and acceleration then get a sport bike. I ride my CB when I just want to thoroughly enjoy the ride. It is an awesome machine for that! When I want a more "spirited" ride, I take my FZ1 out for a spin.
I like my FZ1, but I LOVE my CB1100! Power isn't everything.

Just for the record Rollie Free's Vincent that ran over 150 mph only had 70 horsepower

One could add that a Moto3 bike gets close to 150 mph with less than 50 hp as well. The thing is, it is all much more complex than just numbers, at least for me. My old Ducati ST2 probably had less power than the CB1100 (I think something like 80hp), but the way it delivered the power was much lower in the revvs and simply gave a feeling of being more powerful.

Top speed has never been my interest. It is all about the feeling, and honestly I don't care at all about the speed limiter on the CB.

I figured that since the bike was an 1100 that it would hold its own in most catagories. I expected it to be as it is when guys get the ecm reflashed. Was not expecting a speed limiter. I'm totally cool with the bike, just thought it came with a little more. I don't want a sport bike but do want a bike capable on the top end. This bike is more than capable, its just hidden. Guys are reporting around 140mph after the reflash, that's what I'm talking about. Its not for everyone. Yes sport bikes are fast but plenty of riders have other types of bikes which are speed worthy without being a sport bike. Does the BMW 9t or the Motoguzzi Griso or the Triumph Truxton come with speed limiter set at 112.

I know the FZ-09 does. It's limiter is a little higher I think but it has one. In reality all bikes have a limiter. There are no bikes in the U.S or Europe that will exceed 186 mph because they are electronically limited not to. Even those approaching 200 HP.

I also like that its fairly cheap to have it removed if you don't like it. Guys spend 3 times that for a set of shocks, or twice that for a slip on muffler, or way more for a seat, or fairing, or a set of saddlebags or as much for a power commander.

Very true, im just being over critical. I love the bike, just nit picking a little. The fz09 was on YouTube doing approx 135 stock so if it has one its set alot higher than ours. I will eventually flash the ecm, contemplating whether I should do it after the warranty expires.

Mickey,

If you disabled your speed limiter and squeezed into your old high school swim team Speedo, I think you could hit 160 laid out across the seat with your toes pointed! This would certainly be the highlight of the upcoming Rally!!! Banana Clap Beer
