Eddy's New England/Nova Scotia whirlwind tour '15
#1
I am fortunate that during in this hectic period time in my life (mid 40's) I am able to take a 9 day trip by myself each year on my bike.
For 2015, I have decided to leave Virginia and head north to Meat Cove NS via the Portland to Yarmouth ferry. I only have 9 days so it's going to be a whirlwind, long days in the saddle tour. I have plugged in a bunch of possible places to visit on my GPS including Lunenburg, Peggy's Cove, Halifax waterfront, Meat Cove campground, the Celildh Trail, the giant lobster in Shediac (just because it's unique and we don't have those in VA), Hopewell Rocks at Fundy, Bar Harbor Park Loop Road, Mt Washington Auto Road and the Kancamagus hwy in NH before visiting a friend in Dover, NH and then Iron Butting it back to VA, while avoiding I-95 at all costs.

My question is: Besides the giant lobster in Shediac, the Hopewell Rocks and eating a lobster/lobster roll along the way, does anybody have any recommendations of what or where I could visiting for a cool picture, a quick vist, etc between the end of the Celidh Trail to the giant lobster in Shediac, then towards Hopewell Rocks and then towards Bar Harbor?

Not sure where some of the places you mentioned are, but places we visited on our New England tour included Kancamangus Highway, White Mountains, Mt Washington Auto Road, Cadillac Mountain, Smugglers Notch in VT, the Olympic Ski jumps in New York, Ferried across Lake Champlain, Schoodic Bay. Acadia Natl Park, Catskill mountains among others

Are you going thru PA at all? Scenic Rt 4, Grand Canyon of PA.

Bay of Fundy is a must see, tide there is amazing.

I have friends that tour in New England, one is even a freelance writer for Rider magazine. I may be able to get you in touch with him for advice if you want.

Those would be the main attractions and highlights on that route - Celidh Trail to Shediac and Hopewell.
Other than the scenery along the way, photo opportunities would be whatever you happen to see that appeals to you.
But if you have the time, and if you're interested, you could detour to the Confederation Bridge that links the province of Prince Edward Island to the province of New Brunswick. From the NB side you can get some good shots of the bridge.
The bridge was opened in 1997, is just a tad over 8 miles long, and is a bit of a modern marvel of engineering - but it's not right there as you pass by. You have to make a substantial detour from your route. Just a thought.
Deer are the largest wild animal you may encounter on the mainland (possibly a moose), but there are a great many moose on Cape Breton Island so keep your eyes peeled - especially in the early AM and in the evening.
All the speed limit signs are metric so don't get caught speeding or with a radar detector. Canada has been metric for decades so "I didn't know" won't work with the cops.
Good luck and be safe.
