Getting rid of the CB1100
#11
Gawd luv ya. Everyone's taste is differnt.

What I devoutly hope for you, is that you don't decide selling it was a mistake.

I hope you find your ride. It comes down to, both body-shape; and expectations.

I love mine. Wish the pegs were lower; and I'm working on that...but mostly, I'm greatly pleased - having been on easily, over twenty other bikes.

Thank you for the responses everyone. I do miss the tbird. It was in beautiful shape and had 30,000 miles. Many people thought it was a new bike. While others who see me on the CB1100 congratulate me on the awesome job I have done on restoring it! Smile

Sorry for the mention of removing the Exhaust and Suspension from my bike. I have had a few PM's about it and hopefully you don't mind me following through with the inquiries if folks are interested. I will post to the classified section as soon as I can, so far, I don't think I am allowed yet. I tried and it just won't let me!

Regardless of selling the bike or not, it's a wonderful group here and I appreciate all the messages.

We will see what I do I suppose. Fall is coming, and it's a beautiful time to ride! There is a place that will rend a big shiny red F6b for 150 bucks a day. I thought it would be a hoot to try that out.....Don't worry, won't be buying that one......

I've been lurking the forums here for a few months trying to get inspiration on my recently purchased CB1100. I thought this would be the bike of bikes for a while. I haven't been all that pleased with it.

I bought a 2Bros Exhaust and P1X insert, hoping for a little bit of harrumph, but the bike just doesn't produce that much power. I'm surprised, it certainly lugs well and you can just about idle around in 5th gear, but it doesn't have the acceleration that I expected.

I also upgraded the suspension, HyperPro shocks tuned by EPM, made a huge difference in the rear, but I feel like the front makes it all goofy. Maybe this bike isn't what I thought it was.

The bike is certainly beautiful, and I want to keep it, but I am miserable in that every time I want to ride the bike, I know the Grom is the right choice to take for a get away! How sad is that!

Someone talk some sense into me! Huh

I love my CB, and did ~500 miles on her yesterday, but like I told my friend who bought one as his only street bike, and has all kinds of grandiose plans to make it fast,,,, Dude. You bought the wrong bike. It's a fun bike, but by todays standards it is not fast and never will be. The japanese write up about the bike talks about how they purposefully made it slow and handle ... relaxed.

Great bike. Can't hold a candle to my 'fast' bike, a yamaha FZ-09 with all the suspension replaced and exhaust replaced.

The CB is NOT a fast bike by todays standards.

Well said. You hit the nail on the head. It is what it is and was never intended to be a tire shredder. Efforts to make it one is money wasted in my view - but to each his own.
Accept it as it is as a "fun bike" that does everything well but not everything great (although truthfully, I really think it does Big Grin).
Anyone who wanted a road ripper should have bought another bike that can do that right off the showroom floor.
The 1100 is not and never will be one of those - but for me it sure is one heck of a nice ride!

I usually find that the easiest and cheapest way to make any bike faster is to learn how to ride properly. Obviously on a track if you know how to ride properly you will be able to lap faster on any modern sporty bike than with the CB1100, but on public roads it is a different ball game. I rarely struggle to keep up with most riders on the mountain roads in my area regardless of what they are riding.

Is my CB slower than my previous bike? Yes! Is the CB a slow bike? No, not in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure when Honda designed this bike to handle relaxed and actually decreased power/torque to make sure it wasn't squirrelly, they were eyeballing 40-60 year old dudes that had too much pride to ride anything less than a liter bike, but no longer had the drive and/or skills to truly ride a liter bike. So, they detuned this beauty to a respectable but not earth shattering 80+ horses and made sure the torque was available through the RPMs. Think of it like this: The original CB's were built to win races. The new CB's were built for guys who remember that the old CB's were built to win races!

I love it Gsnyder!

I do enjoy the power of the bike, it's not that it doesn't have enough..or maybe it is....I mean, I ride a grom for crying out loud. THat DOESNT have enough power but is still enjoyable. This bike, something isn't right about it for me. Total bummer.

Obviously you bought it before you realized what it was and what it does and you tried to make it into something you think it should be.

It's OK to admit that it's the wrong bike for you. Sell it and move on to what you want a bike to be.

I do find it amazing that after numerous road tests in magazines and on the interwebs in the last 3 years, and forums such as this one, which is a fairly active forum, people still buy this bike thinking it's something that it's not.

You need to get your post count up to 25 then you can advertise it in the classifieds.
