 Centerstand - Noob question...
#21
Here ya go Popgun. The string is on there as I have also used it when the sidestand is too short on a hill. Put the wedge under the side stand, then when I get the bike up straight use the string to retrieve the wedge and stick it in my tank bag until the next stop.

Put wedge behind the bike, roll bike up on wedge and put centerstand down.

I no longer have grab rails on the DLX. Instead of the grab rail, I go through essentially the same exercise as described, but I grip the bottom of the Left Step Holder. In order to do that, I bend both my legs and use them to lift the bike on the stand. Works well.

I have a fold out spring loaded handle on my BMW. I sure wish the Honda had one.

One of the drawbacks to a 2014 DLX is the centerstand. The left muffler forces the foot step so far out it provides a lot less leverage compared to the std models.

Popgun forgot to give you measurements

Mine is 8" long, 4" being flat and 4" being tapered, 3 1/2" wide and 1 " thick

I think originally it was a piece cut off a 2x4

you want it just thin enough that when bike is on the center stand you can slide it out

Thanks for that. Thumbs Up I WAS going to wing it, but that makes it a lot easier than experimenting.

I got a friend to spot me for a few practice tries until I was sure of myself and am now competent. It wasn't the lift that was scary but the drop. But knowing that I could put the side stand down was a big help. An uphill driveway is a problem, as someone else said. Makes getting it down again much more challenging.
My experience with the lift: It was really hard until I watched the videos and learned to push straight down and lift straight up. If you try to pull the bike back, it won't work well at all. Straight up, straight down.
Good luck!

Me too and I've never had any trouble getting the CB on to the centre stand. I have had trouble getting it off again when I've been silly enough to do it on even the mildest of slopes.
