Happy Thanksgiving y’all. Mrs. and I planned all family activities to start tomorrow to have today to ourselves. Me to put up Christmas lights and her to bake for tomorrow’s dinner with Mom.

I had hoped to get the lights up quick so I could take a ride, but the Santa Anas woke me up before dawn. Shoot. A leisurely ride isn’t as enjoyable when you’re fighting wind and getting pelted with stuff.

Just like last year. I’ll pray I don’t get blown off the ladder putting up the lights.

On my morning walk today, I realized it was very, very quiet. No leaf-blowers, no hedge-trimmers, no airplanes, no distant hum of vehicles, just very, very silent. Sometimes we forget that we are one of the few countries that celebrate a day of Thanksgiving, but for that I am thankful. Before long, I was surprised to see landscapers driving into our neighborhood to start mowing lawns and blowing leaves. Even the carpenters and builders on the many houses springing up like weeds, soon making their familiar sounds and distant traffic sounds filling the air again. Guess folks just decided to work today anyway, but maybe slept a little later.
We are off to the in-laws soon for another family Thanksgiving. I hope all of you have a very beautiful day and please be safe.

No ride for me today. Turkay Day plans at our son's house, with the Grandkids. Wifey in the kitchen making up our portion of the feast. My son is a BBQ Master; he has half a dozen of them, all just a little different, with slightly different characteristics. Besides, it's raining here in TX. Saw on the weather channel that it's in the mid 70's and sunny in SoCal. Peace out and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Actually going to do two rides today. #1 is already in the books, a 50 miler on the NC. Going to repeat the route on the CB in about an hour. Don't have to be at our son's house until 4.

Well, shoot. Reached too far putting up the Christmas lights and threw my back out. I can barely move, and the winds blew half of the stupid lights down later anyway.

Should have just braved the winds and gone for a ride.

aww man. I missed 3 days or riding last week when my back went out. It's miserable.

Get rest, watch some westerns and drink some hot tea. Worked for me. oh yea, take Tylenol too lol

Thanks. Spent the morning stretching and felt spry enough to carefully reposition the Christmas lights to be more wind resistant… and lower to the ground, so no reaching!
