Mine works just fine. You can cycle thru selections on the trip meter to keep track of miles ridden since last fillip if you dont trust it.Just reset to zero when gassing up.Took me a while to get the hang of the selections and zeroing.Play with it,you'll figure it out. When starting with a half full tank it might read near full until you ride a few hundred yards or so.

Zippooriginal, I can't remember what model you have. I've a 2011 model and the fuel gauge is OK, but I tend to go a bit more on mileage than anything else. I zero trip B every time I fill up. When it shows 200 KM (124 miles) I start to look around to fill it up even though I've probably got anything up to another 50 kms left.

On my '14 DX when the gauge last segment flashes and the mile countdown starts, usually around 50m, I've travelled to around 10m before filling up. But if I stop the engine during the countdown and restart it, the readout disappears and doesn't come back. Is this normal?

Thanks for all your input. You know I'm old school, no fuel guage at all in the past. Think I'll go with old school past experience of no fuel guage until I can guage the reliability of the CB fuel guage. I'll be sure to post my results. Thanks.

My '13 is pretty reliable. Once it starts flashing I can go about 50 kms and have about .5-1L left in the tank. If anything I find the gauge to be conservative.

A fill up when the last bar starts flashing requires 2.7 gallons on my bike. Still a gallon of usable fuel left.

The CB11 is my first bike with a fuel gauge (and no reserve petcock). I've found that the gauge on my '13 is not very linear, but generally accurate. The most accurate reading (for me) is when it starts flashing. I've filled up numerous times within a few miles of the flashing bar and it always results in 3.0 -3.1 gallons used. That said, I always reset the tripmeter at each fill up and watch for the flashing bar when the tripmeter tells me I should be getting close.

I'm guessing "your mileage may vary" and so since I hate pushing, then when it gets to two bars I look around for gas just in case since I'm mostly in the boonies when I ride.
Does that make me a wuss?

Whether it's true or not, I don't know.... |
