I use Honda of Sanford NC for new purchases. Thanks 4Paws!
That helps figure out the rest of the "Dealers Fee" and I can do a counter offer on the bike.

Remember, too, that this is all about negotiation. Taxes can't be negotiated, but all the other numbers can. Shop around and see what other dealers will offer. Lots of dealers list bikes on Cycletrader and that sort of site, so that would be a good place to compare prices. This bike is not a hot seller and, from what I hear, many dealers are giving pretty deep discounts. And Fall isn't high season for bike sales. You hold all the cards on this deal.
Something to keep in mind... paying cash isn't really to your advantage when negotiating. The dealer would rather you financed it through them so they would make money on the loan. Not that it's a bad thing to pay cash, but it probably won't help with price.
The strongest card in your hand is your willingness to walk out if you don't get the deal you want. So long as you are willing to stand up and walk out, they will keep trying to sell that bike. And if you feel like you aren't being treated respectfully, turn your back on them and go. There are lots of bikes out there for sale by people who will treat you right.
Good luck. It's a great ride, so it'll be worth the effort in the end. I am aware of Taxes can't be avoided...is the "Dealers Fee" what I refuse to pay in excess.

Hmmm, $1500 sounds like the are adding some freight and set-up fees, like about $6-750. Negotiate. Mine new was less than $8 out the door with tags.
I would not hesitate at all to buy a used one. Have seen several in the area.

Yes, don't be afraid to stand up from the salesman's desk and shake his hand and say "I'm sorry we couldn't make it work." and slowly walk toward the door. Sometimes he will say, "Wait, let me get my manager" and sometimes the manager will see you leaving and come out and address you.
When I bought my slightly used 2013, the dealer wanted to add two $200 dealer fees. (Dealer prep and set up and documentation fees) It being a used bike, they had no "set up" and I was going to do the DMV dance, all they had to do was sign over the title to me... So I refused to pay those. The salesman went back to his manager's office and they wiped one $200 fee off the write-up sheet. I countered with the offer to only pay one $100 dealer fee. The salesman said it couldn't be done, and I stood up, thanked him, I said that I was sorry we couldn't get it done, and I headed toward the door, and as I was going for the door handle, the sales manager came over to say goodbye. I informed him I had taken the day off work, and I was serious about buying a motorcycle that day and would be going to other dealers until I bought one. I also said to him: "Its a shame since we're only $100 apart." He said "What?" and I explained how we were only $100 apart. He asked me to come back to the sales desk with him, where he grabbed the work sheet and crossed off the numbers and lowered the OTD price by $100. I bought the bike.
But another time I had gone to a Honda dealer and they had a brand new bike not even set up, parked outside and they told me I couldn't check it out since it wasn't prepped and had no battery or gas in it. I told the dealership OWNER that I was serious and to call me when I could see it and hear it. (They already had said no test rides)
Guess what? I never got a call or heard anything from them after leaving all my contact info.
So, long story short ( or not, sorry) it depends on the dealer and how good the people are.

I trying to negotiate 2014 CB1100
For those living in NC how much taxes you paid in top of the retail.
I mean....Hypothetically
Bike was $10000 Taxes were 6% %5 4%....
Whats the NC % of taxes at purchase time?
Another thing what other fees you had to pay?
Dealers fee and Set up fees?
I'm trying to buy cash on hand but think i'm been taken advantage off.
Thanks
JD
I'm also in NC.
I purchased my new, still in the crate, 2014 CB 1100 last week.
I paid for the bike, and transported it home with a trailer, opting to take care of the paperwork myself.
I just went to DMV yesterday; the state tax on a motor vehicle, referred to as highway use tax, is 3% of the sale price, without any minimum stated by another forum member. Title fee was $52, and registration was $24, totaling $76. The only additional tax is property tax, levied by the county in which you reside; you have the option to pay this property tax at the DMV, or the county can bill you.
The dealer I purchased mine from has ONE new 2014 remaining, which can be purchased for $7,498, TOTAL, without ANY additional fees, except the aforementioned DMV fees, plus county and state taxes.
TOTAL cost, including DMV fees, county and state taxes is ~ $7,800 – $7,900, depending on the county in which you reside, their tax rate(s), and whether you're in, or out of, city limits, and subject to county taxes and/or additional city taxes.
The gentleman who assisted me is Bryan; he is THE BEST, and afforded me an exceptional purchase experience. If you need Bryan's contact information at the dealership, just let me know.

Y'all are getting even better deals than I did: ~$8500 OTD in NH then another ~$700 in taxes and fees when registering in MA. If you're getting anything close to $8k all-in, I say pull the trigger / enjoy the ride / don't look back.

George, great job negotiating your '13. Even with the fee reductions you demanded, they wouldn't have agreed to the deal if there wasn't something in it for them. Win-win.

Oh yes, I agree they were still making out OK (probably very OK) since the bike was probably traded in and the owner was given far less than I paid.
