Don't tell me about how Harleys hold there value, I've owned a Night Rod and a Road Glide Ultra, took a bath on both. I will never buy a Harley again. Night Rod was the worst POS bike I have ever owned. Sorry you took a loss. The night rod was a terrible seller and barely considered a Harley so of coarse you lost money on that one. Your other Harley is another story. Don't know what your dealings were. In all respect, Harleys do hold their value. I've owned five and did not take a bath on any of them. The CVOs hold a greater value for resale and trade then the regular line up. Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk If i traded my 2014 Ultra i would loose about 1/4 of the msrp. If i traded in my 2014 CB1100 i would loose more than half of the msrp. Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Also their are so many variables involved. Location, time of year, mileage, price of bike your trading up for, whether the dealer is willing to work with you, dealer inventory and so on. I just happened to do ok because I planned for most of these variables. Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk

I actually rode (twice) and thought I wanted a Victory Vision Touring.
It's a very cool looking bike, IMO, lots of good features, heated everything, power windshield....but doesn't turn very well and maxes out the RPM really easy. [url=http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/offroadfx4/media/victoryvisiontour_zpszhxjav9z.jpg.html] ![]() I've also considered and really like the Indian [url=http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/offroadfx4/media/Indian%201_zpsek30spxq.jpg.html] ![]() But if I had the money for a touring to sit beside my CB1100, I would probably get a Gold Wing or a BMW.

If I had to pick another touring bike besides my Ultra I would probably go with the Goldwing and the Roadmaster second. Sport touring probably a BMW

I don't know what I would get if I had to replace my ST 1300 as a tourer. Don't want a Wing, Harley or Beemer. Guess I will keep riding the ST until it dies or they make something that I like.

Their really is a lot of good choices out there. The way bikes are made today is incredible. So many to choose from. Too bad victory couldn't get it to last and become more competitive. I wonder if Indian will be able to hold it together. Don't know if they have really impacted the Harley world yet.
Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk The FJ1300 seems to be a more than capable sport tourer. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

I test-rode all of the Indians except the Roadmaster last summer. I wanted to like them but I felt like they looked a little tacky up close and personal...like one of those modern plastic transistor radios that's supposed to look like a juke box or an old console radio. Plus they just felt sort of loose and juddery to me, and of course ponderous handling but that's to be expected. As a short-legger, it was also incredibly awkward to reach far enough forward to get a toe on the kickstand to deploy it. The brake feel on all of them could best be described as wooden.
The only one I felt I would want to buy was the Scout / Scout Sixty. The Scout preserves the "joy of riding" and really presents a unique look and character all its own.

Interesting.....
The Victory forums are having a collective melt-down.... (just one of the threads has 800+ replies already) ....and most of the other forums start with "RIP Victory" and morph into the typical lunch table discussion of varied topics. Not unlike someone's distant 3rd cousin passing away. Typical 5.8 second attention span (non-food related items). . . . makes me want to curl up with a good book, and take a nap. . . .

Motus: I've sat on one, very nice but may be too low for my long legs. One of the guys on the Guzzi forum bought one - loves it last I heard.
Chain drive: Once you hear about the catastrophic shaft drive failures chain does not sound so bad after all. 20K miles, new chain and sprockets - basically a very cheap rear drive complete over haul. I have two chain drive bikes now and they are not nearly the trouble they used to be in 80's. Like a lot of things in life, I think their negatives are based on old information. But hey, it's your money and we have choices. Victory: Polaris can still bring out an Indian Victory down the line if Indian gives them the profits to experiment a bit. Although I think that motor is dead now. Or maybe they will think the Victory brand is bad juju and will use a different brand. I do think that if Polaris really wanted to keep making motorcycles, bringing out the Indian line was pure genius. |
