Foot Peg Feelers

Yesterday I went for a ride and for my surprise both curve feelers made contact with the ground. I wouldn't say I was pushing so hard... Anyway, as the bike is quite new (1800 Km, 3 weeks) the tyres had a virgin area on the edges. After the contact of the feeler with the ground I stopped for a coffee and took a look to the tyres: they had been running on their very edge, that virgin area dissapeared, then my question is, if I remove the feelers or I shorten them, will there be enough tyre to lean the bike even more?

Depends on the tyres you are running. That kind of ties in with [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=7160]this thread. I have finally spent some time on the edges of my 160 Angel GTs. The chicken strips have, effectively, gone. All the tread is in use.



But I am now on my second set of cap bolts. I might order a set of the shorter bolts that Django uses.



I believe that the 160 rears really suit this bike.

What is the size you are using for front and rear tires?

I have used this size in Michelin PR3s and, currently, Pirelli Angel GTs.

@Ptero: The Angel GT can be ridden to the edge, I've seen this.

While there is no more profil, it does not mean, you couldn't use this area of the tire. Usually you wouldn't lean that much on wet roads, thus you don't need profil at that area of the Angel GT.

Certainly you couldn't do it on a CB, as leaning is restricted by dragging. Also the 160 is a little more bend in the 140 rim.

I'll make up my own pegs soon. Thanks Django. I will be due for a new set of tyres soon. Might stick with the Pirellis.

Django.. Those are more bottom of the footpeg "protectors" than curb feelers lol. Probably 1/4" difference between those and just removing them all together wouldn't you say?

The only thing dragging on the CB I have heard of on this forum is MTC's custom Yosh. Don't recall anyone posting up a pic of a ground center stand or stock pipe.

anyone know at what lean angle the feelers touch down?
