Circuit of the Americas Moto GP

Anyone been to one? Any advice to someone who’s never been to anything like it? I’m 260 miles away from it and recently retired, but every time I consider it I get confused.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've been to car events at COTA. The track is amazing, and I'd go if I had the opportunity to see a Moto GP event. If you woke up there, you'd think you were in Europe. Plus, plenty of good eats in Austin!

How about seating? General admission? Turns? So many choices.

I was working in the infield pits, but it looked like you can't get a bad seat - just have to study the seating areas and figure out where you want to be. there are a few technical curves before the main straight and start/finish line, where a lot of action took place - that's where I'd want to be if there is seating available.

Some buds and I rode up to Willow Springs, CA for an amateur road racing event some years ago. We avoided the 5, and stuck to backroads, two-lane hwys and such thru the mountains. The ride up and back was a blast,, and oh, yeah, the racing was fun, too.

Make sure you go for the practice sessions during which on most tracks you can watch from anywhere.

Went to this year's event with my brother-in-law. Awesome time. Perfect weather - or at least as good as you could ask for - and great racing.

We got the three day passes and sat in the turn 15 section in section 15. This is, in my opinion, the best place to watch the race from the stands. However, if you're up for a walk, crossing the bridges over to the turn 2 area and then walking all the way up to turn 11, you'll see a lot of great action as the guys work their way through the esses. And seeing them take the hairpin at 11 and gassing it up to 215 is amazing.

Was a bit sad to have no Suzuki this year and there were a few wrecks in the MotoGP class that made it so that if you finished the race, you scored points. Three of four Hondas crashed but Alex Rins got the win for big H with the LCR Castrol Honda.

Great track to watch a race even the I think the riders hate it since it's been repaved in a patchwork way with different asphalt types. Well staffed, the food is decent without super long lines. The vendor area is pretty sad compared to prior years and the Honda tent was way smaller than '18 or '19. One thing about COTA I like is the traffic stuff. Those guys seem to have it figured out. We never had to wait too long to get in or out.
