VMAX? (Talk me into/out of it)
#21
Gentlemen,

The new V-Max is something special. A modern day motorcycle equivalent of the Boss 429 Mustang. Very limited production, very expensive, not very practical, terrible gas mileage (who cares as you wont ride it that much), and VERY cool. I need one of those like I need a dose of the clap but still, every time I see one, I want one. But like the Boss 429 it's not a good "my only motorcycle" bike. If you have discretionary cash it's a good bike to add to your fleet. And I'll say it again, the V-Max is one cool bike.

be irrational, buy the Max!

I bought a Multi, (and kept my CB) and never looked back.

The Vmax isnt even allowed to be sold new anymore here in Europe due to the Euro 4 emission rules here.
If it was my dreambike, I wouldn't hesitate and just do it! Smile

ps: there is a French aftermarket extended gastank available, wich makes a considerable difference in range.

You probably won't be happy on a VMAX riding the roads and the speeds you state. (We probably ride the same roads at the same speeds) A CB- 550/750/1100 or any Triumph Bonnie, or the newer Harleys would be a better fit.

I had an Australian acquaintance who when asked, "Which bike should I get?" always answered, "Get the bike that gives you the biggest b*ner." Tongue

They had a Vmax rally at the hotel I was staying at last week at the rally.
Beautiful bikes, but they're the two wheel equivalent to a dragster.
Many of them had super large tires on the rear in order to transfer the raw power to the road. If you like to go fast in a straight line, it's a fine bike.
But if you're looking for comfort, cornering and aren't a speed junkie, you might think about twice. I was talking to the guys at the rally about them and told them that Vmax's ought to come from the dealer with 6 pre-paid speeding tickets.
Imho.
Buy what you want, can afford, and will use safely.
best wishes

Good advice from both sides of the fence.
Personally, I would say no, but only you can decide.
Good luck and ride safe.
