This is great to see. I have a Ural now and it’s fun but the 65 mph cruising speeed makes t too slow to really take on long trips.

Calcb, I seriously considered a Ural. I love them, but thought that I wouldn't be satisfied with its top end speed either. Even though my rig is easily capable of doing 70 mph or more, I am learning to accept a slower pace of travel and I've come to really like it. Because I frequently have my dog in the sidecar, I will typically only travel at about 50 mph or less because of him. Also, since I don't yet have a windscreen or any other weather protection on the bike, I don't usually exceed 70 mph, even without the dog in the tub. I'm sure other rigs are setup with much more performance in mind. Enjoy your Ural!

I have had my sidecar up to 80mph (alone but with ballast) but I didn't care for how it felt at that speed and I certainly wouldn't recommend it if you don't have a steering dampener.

So cool to see Rudi enjoying the rides. Makes me jealous. Thanks for the pictures and videos!

Mark, are you still running with stock suspension (I hope not!). I had a wakeup call the first time I rode with my wife on the back and my dogs in the sidecar.
The person I ended up working with, Jeff Favorite at Ted Porters Beemer Shop (Jeff@beemershop.com),is worth asking for some ideas; he and I talked about CB1100 improvements after I followed his recommendations for my rig. His CB suggestions are on my short list for when I have money to burn.

Hey Dan, yes ... I'm still running with the stock suspension. Haven't noticed any major performance issues, but do have a suspension upgrade on my ever-growing wishlist! It will probably be a rare occurrence for me to have a passenger on the back. Do you have a sidecar on your CB1100?

She was totally geeked up after the approximate 35 mile ride we took. It was pretty funny! Rudi seemed to be totally into it too. On a related sad note ... four days prior to this ride we had to put down our 9-year old Newfoundland dog due to bone cancer. She's the black and white one in this pic: ![]() I took Lana along for the ride because I thought it might be good for her to be with Rudi on that day. I think it was a good decision. : )
