Nortoon—Open MTC's map, click on the three vertical dots in the red title bar at the left of the screen where it says "Circle Tour -Avenues S..." You should see a Print option.
Stichill—I was able to copy and edit your map. See [url=https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ODMjFoqzT_l_WgsgrPFLW446oo4&usp=sharing]here where I've sent you on a trip to Washington at the end. Empty Sea—I think [url=https://drive.google.com/open?id=1SpMf_ATinemXRathBDwGlAtYoQ4&usp=sharing]this map is the same as yours and I created it entirely in MyMaps. If there is a place you can find on Google Maps, you can find it in MyMaps. As far as I know they use the same database of place names and locations. I don't think building the map in Maps and then importing it to MyMaps will not, I don't think ever give you the flexibility you can get when designing it in the latter. You could take Stichill's advice and copy the map I've drawn after which you should be able to edit it any way you like; alternatively, if you send me a PM with your Google email address or ID, I'll give you edit access to the map and you can play with it. This is what I do when I create a new map. Open a new MyMap and click on the "Add Directions" tool button (2nd from the right under the search bar). A new untitled layer will open and you'll see A and B with text boxes to the right. Type the starting address in A. For example, typing "O'Hare Oasis Travel Plaza" seemed to do the trick for me. When you've got the right place, press enter and move on. You can add destinations until you reach the limit of the layer. If you do that, start a new one and use the finishing point of the previous layer as the starting point for the new one. If you want to force MyMaps to send you to a particular spot that it's algorithm doesn't immediately want to, click in the Untitled Layer at the top so the sidebar goes blue, then select the "Add Marker" tool. Place a marker at the point you want—by zooming right in you can be pretty precise—and it will call itself Point 1 or something. Then go back to the directions layer you're building (by clicking within it so the sidebar goes blue) and start typing "Point" into the text box. You should see your new point appear as an option and you can select it. If you miss a point and want to add it in, simply add it to the directions at the end. You'll get taken to it in a way you don't want to go, but you can drag and drop it into the order you want and it should sort the route out. Finally, if you have built the map in MyMaps and are the owner, you can click on the three dots at the right on the top of the directions layer and you'll see the option "Step-by-step Directions". Have a look at them and see how they work for you. You might have to copy them into a word processor or something to edit them and print them easily. I don't think you get these instructions if you import the data or look at someone else's map. One final thing: sometimes I do find it helpful to have Google Maps open in a separate tab in my browser as it can be quicker to find things and you don't risk contaminating the map you're designing. Sometimes, too, you want a specific point where there's no name or other easy identification. Click on that spot and a marker will appear. At the bottom of the screen will be information about that marker. It may give you an address you can type into MyMaps; it will also give you map coordinates that you can copy into MyMaps either as a waypoint or to create a point as I described above. Hope that helps a bit.

I have been using My Maps for a while and I have a question for the group. I planned a route and did this ride yesterday.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1q_vJnn...sp=sharing I have three layers. 1 The points I want to hit. 2 The places that want to hit on the outbound. 3 The places that I want to hit on the return. The question is that Google Maps wants me to select each point on the route rather than taking from point A to B to C etc. It seems to think that each point that I have selected is a destination. This works but it break up the ride a lot. Any fix for this would be welcome. thanks ![]() ![]()

HW, your link didn’t work. You need to change the permissions to let anyone with the link access it.
I haven’t found a way around Google Maps’ inability to create waypoints. It is not as good as a dedicated GPS app for complex routes.

I've read this entire thread....this is all good information.
Man, some of those routes would make a great addition to my bucket list! I've finally trying to get serious about planning longer day rides! This summer I plan on riding in the Chicago area (my son lives there)....MTC if you have any maps to share that would be great! Stichill I'm within striking distance to a lot of your maps (2-3 hours)....any you can share would be wonderful! I'm just learning on this map creation thing....I've got a dedicated Garmin that accepts GPX files I think. My phone has a better interface than the Garmin IMO, but the phone can't take the heat and turns off. Too bad someone doesn't make a data base of these where you can just type in a city and several day ride maps will appear! Integrate that to unique restaurants and it would be a best seller among the motorcycle world.
