I think, I saw this issues here in Germany already reported by a friend. The problem with this tire is, in the middle is no tread, so no indicator, how much rubber is gone. Then you get suprised, when the textile shows up.

I gotta say one thing, I joined this forum mainly to share information about a great tire for the CB1100, and whatever else might be helpful to owners.

This thread represents the opposite tack. We have what appears to be a tire failure, and both moderators and the person who experienced the failure are not providing the slightest bit of information about a potential safety issue.

I've used the Angel GT's, not on the CB1100 of course as they don't really come in the optimal sizes, and it is a good, if unremarkable, tire.

I would like to pass along to anyone else following this thread that if this failure happen unexpectedly during a ride, that is something that an inspection of the tire should have indicated.

Otherwise, some may believe there is a safety issue with Pirelli Angel GT tires which I do not believe is the case.

Yea milking it. There were a whole 4 posts between your last comment (#17) and your current comment( #22), and the guy who can explain what actually happened is on a trip in the outback of Australia. When he gets back to civilization, I am sure we will find out the true story. Since you are not running these "unremarkable" tires on your bike, you have nothing to worry about.

It's not about posts, it's about page views. There are only a small handful of members who post regularly. Even though I am the only forum member saying it, I can't be the only one thinking it. What is the point of this thread? Yes, I see it is presumably about camaraderie and gratitude, but anyone running that Angel GT might just be wondering what it's all about, no?

This happens with a lot of motorcycle tires though, as they deliberately leave the middle of the rear tire smooth for traction, knowing that in operation the front will have already cleared most of the water from its path. It would be nice if manufacturers put the little dots (like slicks have) at a few places in the middle so you could see middle tire wear better.

Yes, I noticed it. I did not suggest the problem was with the tire. Someone else hinted at that. However, since you are not forthcoming about the issue I personally can only conclude you simply wore the tire out on a ride, as the ferret suggested.

That is an unusual thing since tires have wear bars and can be checked for wear.
