I’ve gone through the factory service manual but wanted to ask about any unforeseen problems disconnecting the fuel lines. Do I need to get any spare parts incase some of the plastic disconnect fittings break? This is for a 2014 Standard.

Had my gas tank off few times for 2013 & 14. Always replaced 2 retainers (plastic & rubber)...but last time did tanks swap without replacing above retainers and fuel pump ass-y rubber seal either. No leak so far.
Bottom line = have a set of 3 ready.
Good luck, easy job.

PeterBaron is right, have a set of the parts on hand, replace them, and keep the old parts as emergency spares. You can't get by without them, and there's no way to cheat. Definitely order at least one of each part - less than $10 for all 4. You only need to disconnect one end of the fuel line, but the same fittings are at either end.
Don't forget to disconnect the tank vent and the overflow drain hoses too.
Have someone lift the tank up as you will need both hands underneath. Pull back the black rubber piece #3 away and slide it sideways. Only then will you be able to push the 2 sides of the green #11 lock piece together, and slide the hose away from the plastic spigot. If you don't remove the black #3 rubber piece, you can squeeze and swear all day long and nothing will happen. Don't ask me how I know.

When reinstalling, place the blue green part 11 into the female part of the fuel line then slide the metal part of the fuel line from the pump into the rubber fuel line, You will here it click when it is seated.
Also, I use a long handle pair of needle nose pliers with a curved tip to compress the tangs on part 11

Good tip.
And make sure the #11 rubber piece is slid over the spigot before you press it back together.

I’ve ordered the retainers now if I can only get a new tank,in new condition. I’ve had 2 tanks within 3 weeks and both were damaged. As of now it the now I’ve paid for 3 tanks,2 are on their way back to the supplier and the 3rd is on its way. I’ll get refund on the 2 defective tanks. To save on shipping somebody has the bright idea to use the OEM tank box to ship a side cover, evidently somebody dropped the side cover on the tank and dented it

I may need to go down to the garage and take a good look at my original tank. I have it sitting in the box that Takashi sent me the dark blue tank in and it should be in perfect condition. I know it wasn't dented, but I may need to detail it if you're interested (if your next tank is damaged).

Are you in Fremont, CA? If so I could meet you rather than having to deal with shipping.
Let me know.
