Day 186 ...due to rain yesterday "CB Sunday" turned into "CB Monday" this week. Rode my covered Bridge Loop 50 miles @ 75 degrees and cloudy

Not looking for a political conflagration, but rather just sharing "woe to the northwest"...What I didn't do on my CB  today--nor the last several days--is ride it or the other bikes.  Our seemingly summer ritual of dealing with forest fires sure dampens the mood for getting out there.  For 2026 sar far, we have just over 2 million acres burned, 3.25% of the state of OR, the equivalent of a square 55 x 55 miles.  The Portland area had not been too affected until the last few days when winds shifted and allowed the east of Mt. Hood forest fire smoke to make its way west.  Supposed to be clear skies, but it's overcast with the grey stuff.  Slight smell yesterday; today quite a bit stronger where it's noticeable inside. 

A friend and I were going to ride our street bikes in the area in the photo below last Thursday, but we opted for the adv bikes in an area that wasn't affected yet (but now is).  This photo was from an ADV.rider member who was doing a wellness check on a friend.
 
Gives you an idea of what the skies should look like, and what smoke can do.  Our skies look similar, just a lighter shade of grey.  The rains don't start till mid September.  I feel bad for the folks who have to evacuate and for those in the Spokane area where 700 some structures have burned.

Bleh. I hate riding through smoke like that. I just jinxed it, but in our immediate area, I haven't ridden through heavy smoke since the January '25 fires in the Palisades and Alta Dena. When fires are near, I keep a neck tube handy for smoke and ash.

But, there has been the most ungodly stench in the area east of Downtown L.A. A month ago (Not sure how far it spread in non-local news) we had a frozen food warehouse near the 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights that burned for a week. Apparently they haven't cleaned up the aftermath, as the recent heat spike caused the smell of the rotting food to permeate the area for miles around. It's the smell of dead rotting flesh and it's so bad that some local residents have received hotel vouchers to move out of the area. I've altered my riding pattern to avoid the area, my helmet doesn't have a recirculate button and I can't roll up the windows.

Just the other day I was thinking how much would I be willing to sell my 2017ex for with 33k miles, in great shape.  No plan to do so, I was just thinking about it, and I thought I'd probably accept U.S. 6,000 although I'd want 7,000, and your 10,000 Canadian is about $7,100 U.S. ... so pretty close.

So I'll ride the CB1100 to see which one of us lasts longer--the CB, or me.  If it's me...I'll go back to the lighter, smaller W.  If the CB outlasts me...that will no longer be a concern of mine.

So bottom line question: if your interested seller offers the 10k...is that a done deal?  Will be interesting to see what he thinks of your bike at your price.

I have only one CB, the other one, white 2014 std with 134 k kms was sold last April within few minutes , and I've never heard anything since = very sure it has been a bulletproof bike!
I might let him take a look at it, but definietely don't want to play sales games.

Been a busy week here for me

On Monday I officially became a full fledged firefighter and had my pinning ceremony where I received my firefighter badge. Over 200+ hours of work put into this over the past year and a half. Felt very good to be done, yet now the real learning really begins.

Last night detailed and adjusted/cleaned my CB chain for the second time since I replaced chain and sprockets this past winter. I haven't been able to ride as much as I'd like to this year, as of now I am at 981 miles for the year. (Attached photo is from last year, I am terrible at remembering to take photos)

And today, picked up an engagement ring   , gonna pop that question when we go up north to my families cabin at the end of september!
