Interesting CB1100 for sale

Venteuri registering the bike in California seems like bad economics to me.

The bike is around 1300 miles away from the CA population centers--there is all the rest of Texas and immediately surrounding states to sell the bike in that won't require current CA registration. Much higher than just CA back registration fees would be the cost of getting the bike transported that long of a distance.

Maybe put it on San Antonio, Austin, and Houston Craigslist and other "nearby" population centers with whatever free advertising.

I wonder if spreading the word on Facebook and Reddit's r/HondaCB might get some hits also.

Just to close the loop on this, from my own recent CA DMV experience:

DMV will probably need this very brief/simple form completed, certifying that this motorcycle has not touched or traveled on any California road during the period that the registration lapsed:

No kind of proof is needed just your signed statement.

Then just mail in that form and along with whatever other forms DMV requires for the title transfer.

It is quite possible that (though I am certainly not one to say for certain), since it's been out of CA all this time and not been on any state roadway, that even someone in California could buy this bike without incurring those fees.

I've found that CA DMV has a quite excellent chat feature on their website and I would say that any California buyer should just chat with them before buying this bike, but I do think it's encouraging for a CA resident to buy this bike without burdensome fees.

Three thoughts (maybe #3 is best):

1) Maybe it's just me getting lucky finding my bike locally here, but if all else fails, try Craigslist in Austin and San Antonio.

I think the bike's current location in Laredo (being at the edge of the country) is making things much tougher than they should be, but conceivably it's only a day's ride or trailer home from the above-mentioned two cities full of affluent artsy types who should appreciate the CB1100's seductive charms.

(Why "if all else fails?" Your biggest issue may be filtering out the CL con artists to find the truly interested buyers--my CL seller only accepted phone calls, which might be a smart move to find the truly serious buyers--I was the only one he had to deal with and I paid cash with no haggling! )

Maybe I was lucky, but I got immediate responses and the answers that I needed in minutes. I didn't expect a pleasant experience, but was happy to be happily surprised.

Like on this forum and ADVrider, you should get quality offers without the kinds of issues like you might get on Craigslist.
