Been waiting to get the "bare minimum" installed before riding OHV trails: handguards, handlebar and grips, adjustable mirror, skid plate, lower pegs and side rack.  I also had a welder strengthen the subframe, but that's for whether I put any weight on the tailrack which I haven't installed yet.  Right around 39-40 degrees.  Lots of rain of late, so lots of puddles and mud.  Only about 20 miles of offroad trails and FS roads, but a very fun couple of hours.









I've been coming to this area for about 15 years.  I'd say this has happened about half a dozen times.  Totally preventable, as I slowed too much, put foot down, slippery! and down!  But the side rack and hand guards did what they're designed to do, no damage to bike


Found a new to me road and wanted to take it deep into the woods, but my toes and fingers were getting numb.  Only 275 miles on the bike, but I'm hopeful for several camping trips this spring and summer.

Yeah, it's about 2' deep, the rain inflicts its will.  It would be a very unpleasant surprise if one failed to notice the marker, which would be easy to do if there were more snow.  Last time I was through was September and I don't recall it being there.  Likely someone will fill it and pack it down for the upcoming summer.  Not a lot of maintenance out there, with numerous healthy ruts and dips that fill with water and you have to "walk gingerly" or not care about your vehicle...side by sides, atv and motorcycles do well.

It's much nicer June-early November when there's not much rainfall, the trails dry out and the temps even in our hottest months are very reasonable because it's at elevation and forest covered.  La Dee Flats is my closest OHV (off-hiway vehicle designated area) about 25 miles distant.

The fire won a few rounds this time, taking out my gloves, sweatpants and my headlamp, but I was grateful for the amount of dry wood that was lying around.  If not, an enjoyable, albeit mostly sleepless night, would have been a miserable sleepless night.  I should have positioned my truck closer to a big tree that was right there, hung my hammock between the two with the fire 2 meters distance, then used my mini propane heater pointed at my feet.  I think I would have faired just as well or better than the tent.

Camping is always memorable for me.  But I can't recall anything about the other 6 nights last week.
