There's not a lot to complain about on a DLX, but the '17 fixes all of it.

Like a champ! I just took it to Georgia for the final riding trip this year. It will come out on some weekends all winter long but I won't be back in the mountains with it til April.
My DLX has the ‘17 front end. As far as the tank is concerned, the ‘14 has a more vintage look in my opinion. Not near as wide in the front as a ‘17 tank.
@ Mtneers, as far as I remember you bought your DLX from John, who replaced his dlx's front forks with the EX model, correct?

@ Mr.P, Need some more info about the weaker front end [/quote] Basically, the forks on the '17 are improved over previous models. Its the damping. Depending on how you go about corner entry, youd notice.

Congrats Mr.P, glad to see the new bike arrived and that you're happy with the purchase. Now you need to bring it up my way and try out those forks on some twisties!

The next outing is Maggie Valley in April. I would notmally take a trip in November but ill be in Taiwan.

Taiwan sounds exciting. Work or play?

just normal tourism. sadly I won't be able to be licensed to ride there. It isn't like some countries where you can just flash your USA drivers license and hop on a motorcycle. I'd had an aspiration to rent a 2 stroke scooter and go riding around Taipei with the hordes of other scooters but unfortunately i'd have to go to their version of the DMV and do a whole test in a language i don't speak lol.

Our college recognizes Veteran's Day and so with no work and a beautiful day it wasn't hard to figure out what to do. I've been riding the W800 and the DR650 a lot lately...time for the CB1100. Last few weekends I've been doing trail riding and non-paved surfaces. Today was for the hiway. Got on I-84 and rode east to The Dalles, crossed the Columbia and took hiway 14 back west.
That's 14 below, far left, just under my mirror. It's a lot more relaxing to ride it than 4 lane 84 on the OR side. A gaggle (flock?) of turkeys ran across the road, about 30 in the photo, but I'd say there were at least 50. They ran single file to cross, very funny looking ![]() Rode 175 miles and just under four hours ![]() Likely today was my last opportunity of the year to ride in mid 50s, no rain, and lots of afternoon sunshine. Thanks to all the Vets for your service!

It looks as clean as rdprdp01's bike.
