2025 East Coast Rally Official thread
#31
Cheryl and I are booked for the rally as I think I already noted. Riding down this time. We're leaving Chicagoland early on Saturday, August 23, staying overnight at the Hillside Inn in Madison, IN, and the arriving in Kingsport sometime Sunday afternoon. We're departing the rally on Saturday, August 30 and heading to Bardstown, KY for the evening. Bardstown is pretty much ground-zero for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and we're hoping to get a tasting in once we park the bikes. Sunday, we head north for an overnight in Noblesville, IN, and a fairly easy Monday ride back Home.

This post is pretty irrelevant to most people reading it, but if it happens that any rally-goer is riding similar routes as us on the same day, we might be able to ride together. It's a long shot, I know, but I figured I'd put it out there.

Howdy and Good Morning everybody!  It's time to fully solidify our plans for the 2025 CB1100 Rally. As of this most recent July 4th weekend I have finally verified all possible routes and tweaked every inch of road to be safe, fun, and efficient. Over the next few weeks I will periodically update this thread with a new post detailing each route and its features so you can get excited. For now, here's a re-post of all the pertinent booking and scheduling information for those of you who are late comers:

The Comfort Suites at this location was the best possible spot for use as a base of operations for our Rally. It has a decent and familiar hot breakfast every day, very comfortable and spacious rooms (more so than ever before in fact...), and arguably the best social gathering Gazebo-with-a-view we've ever had access to. You can use the address above to find it, or the link below to see it on a map.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/DUc999e1d7iCm4PR8

The group rate I was able to get at this spot is $120 per night, prior to taxes and such (which is actually a little better than I expected, considering they charged me about 140 before taxes to stay there this last weekend.) To book your stay for the above dates, please contact:

Samantha
at 423-765-1955,

or use the link below to book online. When contacting by phone, make sure you mention that you are with the CB1100 Forum group, ZB58F3 in order to get the group rate.

https://www.choicehotels.com/reservations/groups/ZB58F3

So far we have the following people confirmed to have booked their stay.  If you don't see yourself on this list, Call Samantha or click that link right now! You want to get your booking squared away before August 9th, 2025.  Any bookings that happen later than that will not fall under the group rate, so don't make an expensive mistake!

Emptysea
RickCB
Sneakyfast
Third Gear Steve
DAC
Goldwing Dave
Razor
OldvicRider
Suhawk
The A-man
Offroad4x4
The Ferret
Misterprofessionality
Cytocatlady

shown below are notable people who have expressed an interest in or claimed to have booked but ARE NOT shown on the hotels booking information.  If you see your name on this list, please call the hotel and make sure they know you're intending to book, because According to Samantha, you do not have a booking:

Mtneers - (did you say you were bringing a friend too? i can't remember)
Belray11
Inhousebob
Balkanhound
Duh!
SCCBrider

All in all it looks like a really good turnout is happening. I am also trying to forage the Charleston area for riding buddies and friends to come out and hang with everybody, so maybe a few more new faces will appear.

Regarding Tshirts,  don't forget to let me know what size and quantity of shirt you're after BEFORE the final day of the month of July.  I need that much of a lead time at least to make sure that Inhouse Printing has enough time to make them all and mail them to me. As a reminder, I'm making sure to only charge $10 apiece for the shirts and they are going to be made using the design at the top of this post on a nice Red Gildan cotton shirt. The sizing chart can be seen below.

If you don't see your name on the list below, then I am currently not aware if you want a shirt, so speak up!

Ride Day 0  Biker Biker Biker  Biker

Since there's usually a crop of early arrivers (myself included), I wanted to make sure I had enough routes planned to take a good fun ride on the Sunday before the rally, so if anybody gets to the hotel on Saturday evening or super early Sunday morning and is ready to ride, we'll be able to have some bonus fun. It was really hard to choose which of my meticulously planned ride routes to place in this position, but I think I have a good one you're going to enjoy

We'll head north out of Kingsport relatively early in the morning and head straight into Virginia to pick up the awesome Hwy 72, which winds north toward Kentucky via the Jefferson National Forest. This one alternates between exciting twisty climbers and wide open pastoral cruising.
it will take us all the way up to Hwy 83, which is a fabulous river runner, fully of these big sweepy turns that fly back and forth for miles and miles.

Afterwards we'll turn south via a twisty, unpredictable, but well-paved road numbered 625 and head toward the tiny historic town of St. Paul, VA for a sit down lunch at J&J BBQ.

After that it's smooth sailing back down across the Tennessee Border to return to the hotel having put down 161 Miles  of good times. If you don't believe it's a good time, review the video below of my own CB following Cytocatlady down 72!

it really is! you've got a nice mix of "ooooo look at that view" and "bring your brown pants" curves.

We will not be in Kingsport early enough Sunday for this ride. My route to the rally is currently plotted to come via US58, but if time and temperament permit, we may cut over to VA72 for our last leg after seeing the route above.

Do it! if my map can help you have a good time, that's worth it.  You're coming in from the West on 58 though? one road you could have A LOT of fun on is US 421 in Virginia.  We won't be able to visit it during the Rally just because it's far away, but you'll have the perfect opportunity.
