I’ve taken the liberty of adding your VIN to the forum register.

Thanks "Cor-Man"! I forgot to do that....
Thanks again, for comments. Since I know nothing of the bike's history, I'll assume it MUST have been stored outside?!
What's wrong with those DEALERS?... Don't they do any research on future owners??!! There should be all kinds of background checks, just like for adoption!! Heck, they even do that sort of thing if you want to "adopt" a stupid animal!! JK....

I have another ??... How difficult is it to remove those front fork reflectors? Thanks in advance!...Angry

easy peasy on the reflectors. Get out the hair dryer again, give em some heat and either a little twist or a piece of dental floss pulled down behind will do the trick. They are just put on with double stick tape.

Thanks for the tip, Mr. Ferret! Or, may I call you "The"?!!

Using your method, I had them both off in less than 10 minutes! I have another ??...
What is the general consensus on the center stand? Pull it, or leave it? I have a portable
cycle lift, so I really don't need the center stand. BUT... after looking around under the frame,
I can NOT see how to remove it??!! Any help from the "lighter is better" crowd, will be greatly appreciated!!

Welcome, call me what you like as long as it's respectful. I'll do the same Mr Gears lol.

Lighter is better until you get a rear tire puncture out on the road lol. I would never even buy a bike that didn't have a centerstand, much less remove one from a bike I owned, but that's a personal thing. I'm sure someone will come along shortly and tell you how to remove it. Many have done so to put on exotic exhausts.

Good point, about a flat tire! I forgot to mention, that due to the fact that Winter has descended on us in NE Pa, I haven't had the bike out of my garage, since I brought it home last Thur night!...

In the meantime, I've been making a few changes: so far I've swapped out the stock muffler for a smaller one, but it's much louder so not sure I'll keep this one on there? But, I also found that when I removed the stock muffler, the center stand now hits the chain!Angry
Hence, my justification for "lighter is better"!!

I'm also working on shortening the rear turn signal stalks, as I think they stick out too far?!! Someone mentioned in another thread that DOT regs dictate the length of the turn signals! So, that may be an issue here in Pa. as well??
In the meanwhile, I'll continue to play with the appearance/sound of my new toy. I hope it helps me get thru the Winter??!!Thumbs Up

So, I hope someone who reads this will enlighten me as to how big a project it is to remove the offending part?!!

COME ON SPRING!!!! Biker
P.S. Skinny Bill signing off for rest of the day. Heading to the airport in a few minutes. Charleston, SC here we come!!

Sure wish I could ship the bike with me??!!...

So... I successfully removed TANK LABELS with my wife's hair dryer and WD-40, but...
The paint is MUCH darker under the labels!!! BUMMER!
Here's my VIN...

Are you certain that is not residual adhesive that the WD40 did not remove? If it is, 3M makes an automotive adhesive remover that you probably can find at a well-stocked local NAPA store or at a store that specializes in automotive paint supplies. I bought a can years ago and it will likely last me the rest of my life.

Greetings to all, from Charleston SC!

I finally got a couple hours away from packing, to get onto the Forum... Thanks for all the good info!
As for the dark paint from removing the tank labels, I'm seriously considering one of two options:
1. find a nice looking wide stripe, or decal?
2. have a pro paint it to look like the early CBX with a tank stripe down the middle?

I won't get back home for several more days, so I haven't been able to play with my new toy! BUT, I have
mixed feelings about heading up North? I understand they're in the middle of a classic Nor'Easter back home,
with several INCHES of that cold white stuff everywhere you look!!

After I drive the U-Haul truck up to Allentown next week, and help set up my daughter's condo, I think I'll just
drive it back to my place, load up the CB and head to my buddies place in SE Florida?? Now, if I could only
convince my wife that it's purely for "health reasons"??!! I don't think she'll miss me too much?!

96Gears. You resolve your center stand conundrum? I'm with Ferret. I would not give up that center stand for a number of reasons. Check my thread on the Yoshimura Exhaust can. You can buy a part for approx. $70 that will keep your stand from hitting the chain. I had the same issue when I put on the RS3 muffler.

Mate, she told me not to tell you that we won't miss you at all, but I can't have you worrying. Tongue

Thanks for the tip, Frulk! Can you send me a link to the source of that bracket? I did manage to cobble together a contraption, using a hose clamp and a small angle iron. But it looks BAD!
As for YOU, Cor-Man... In the words of Henney Young man: "take my wife, please"! Excited
