I wear a pair of Frye harness boots.

I wear Wesco Motorcycle Patrol boots. Heavy duty and real comfortable. I'm a diabetic with bad feet and can't wear an off the shelf boot size. Wesco makes them for your foor measurements and they fit "all day" perfect. I also have a pair of the Workmaster's that I do wear all day. Quality boots and sevice.

Great info! Thanks. I knew about the size issues. I'm concerned (maybe too much) about ankle protection in general, and the Stylmartins seem to have what I need, but I need them to be comfortable off the bike, too. I'll watch that. If I get them, I'll walk around the house with them before riding just to be sure. I know they are hard to find, so I may wind up looking at something else, too. Always good to know the pros and cons. Thanks again.

No problem. They're not as bulletproof as an all-out Sidi or Dainese racing boot, but from what I read in your original post, it sounds like you want a boot that offers full protection and looks just as good wearing to work or just out to town. I can't think of any other WP casual-inspired boot that offers full moto protection, so the Indian (and its pull-on cousin, the Legend) would be on top of the list.

I'm not sure how the weather will change in your part of the country, but take into consideration that the Indian is more ideal for cold weather since it's WP- it can get fairly warm inside these boots when you're off the bike. With the advent of Spring, it might not be the ideal boot to buy at this time.

I can vouch for the quality of the Chippewa and Wesco boots other members have mentioned. If you can get over the fact that they offer no moto-specific protection for ankles, they're very well made boots.

The new line of city boots from Rev'it look very promising; if you're on Revzilla, you've probably seen them. Unfortunately, I just found out today that their release is being pushed back to late May, so I cancelled my preorder on a pair. But they're definitely worth checking out.

That is one serious boot, if you ask yourself which boot would you want to be wearing if in a wreck, this SIDI seems like a top choice?
When I was trying all my boots on at Revzilla, SIDI boots fit me the best, even thoughI ended up with my Dainese when factoring in other requirements like price, style, fit, weight, etc.

I wear 3 different types of boots, 2 motorcycle specific

The ones I wore today and am actually standing in right now are Alpinestars waterproof touring boots. I consider them a middle of the road boot price wise. They fit well, comfortable enough, supposed to be waterproof. When it gets warm they are warm to wear. When its cold they keep your feet warm. The zippers are on the outside but only come half way up. The velcro top wraps around the rest of the top. This makes them easy to get in and out of. It also makes the top adjustable for different size calves. We I tour or if its cold I choose these.

The second pair is made by Vega called a Nitro. It is thinner than the Alpinestar boot and the one I wear in summer or when riding in a more sporting manner. Zippers and velcro up the inside and the outside. Use one or both. Being fatter than I should be I tend to zip up the inside cause its easier to reach when sitting down. These I would rate as an inexpensive boot.

The 3rd boot is not motorcycle specific, but a black lace front over the ankle work boot made by Brahma. Waterproof, but when Im wearing these it's hot out and I'm probably also wearing a vented jacket, vented gloves and jeans so my feet are still going to get wet from water running down my body and legs lol. Not as much protection as a motorcycle specific boot, but better than a pair of flip flops I'm sure. These are very inexpensive.

I think the Sidi Adventure boots offer very good protection around your shin and ankle, especially from sharp items like footpegs if your foot gets jammed under a heavy bike (however, most of the boots mentioned in this thread would also seem to do very well against road abrasion which is probably the most likely street injury anyway, so the extra protection afforded by the Sidis probably is not strictly necessary). Anything is better than sneakers, and many boots are less expensive than the Sidis and probably provide just as good protection in most cases.

I guess pick a boot which seems sturdy, extends over the ankle, feels comfortable when you try them on, is within your budget, and fits your personal style; you probably can't go that far wrong.

As an aside, I just got back from a two week, 1,000 mile motorcycle ride on the Ho Chi Minh trail in Vietnam and my Sidi boots were comfortable for hours of riding days on end. There were times when the roads were narrow, and very crowded with other motorcycles speeding tour buses and exposed farm tractors, and I felt a measure of comfort knowing my feet were well protected!

All nice and clean at the start of the trip, I'm the one on the right, footgear runs the gamut: nylon over the ankle hiking boots, Alpinestars S-MX-1 street boots, high laceup Doc Martens, and Sidi Adventure

I bought the Sidi Adventure Boots to go with my Quota. Love 'em. I had to change out the inner soles to accomdate my little toes and I tend to ride toe's down so on the CB1100 I have to be very careful I'm not riding the rear brake.

Been in two crashes with them, slight abrasion on a buckle from the second crash. That's it.

Those pictures I took at Bartlett Lake; I climbed up the steep hill with those boots; they are excellent rock climbers. I have not hiked in them (other than Bartlett Lake and that was under two miles, not really a test). They get full marks from me.

These are not supposed to be water proof; but they are. Fully tested in a gully washer. Not tested in an all day rain.

I've checked out the Aerostich Combat boots and while nice, they don't really move me. I'm looking for a lighter boot to replace my Tour Tec's and Sidi has the first shot. They know how to make a boot.
