My helmet specs

I am unable to find a helmet I want. The specifications are quite simple:

1) Full face
2) As low mass (weight) as possible
3) White, with no graphics and lettering on it
4) Reasonable cost

The specifications are listed in order of importance. Please note that I do not believe any one particular helmet make/model will offer significantly better protection than another in case of a crash. I do not need any formal "certification" as I have yet to observe it be examined on the road by an agent of the government in any jurisdiction I have been riding in.

Specifically, if you own a full-face helmet and weighting scale, and if your helmet weights less than 1250 grams (2.75 pounds) please post the make/model and mass in either metric or imperial measure.

Weight and noise are the factors driving price. Pretty much what Ferret said. "Reasonable cost" is a completely subjective term -- I assure you that Ferret's "reasonable" is different than my "reasonable". I like my Shoei x14. It is white. I could have peeled off the Shoei logos. It is light, although I'm going to leave it to you to reasearch the exact weight. Problem is that it's probably not priced right for you. As far as the certifications, well, it's your noggin.

HJC and their RPHA line have good quality products at what I would call "reasonable" prices. Not as light as some, though

I believe that was an '80's marketing slogan by Bell Helmets, not by Kenny Roberts. I'm sure I still have the magazines with the ads.

For cheap, white, full face, check JC Whitney or Cycle Gear. They carry inexpensive off-brand helmets which will likely meet your requirements. As far as weight, you'll need to rely on the manufacturer's specs and do your own comparisons.

There is no statistical data to prove that a more expensive helmet will substantially reduce the probability of an injury, at least not that I know off. Until I see some, I will assume that price is in more direct correlation with the marketing expenditure than it is with the quality of the product. But I don't mind paying a premium for comfort, which to me means low weight and good fit.

Thanks. I note however that weight is hardly ever published by the helmet makers, and even when it is, it appears that around 3 pounds is the norm. This is why I was wandering if anybody on the forum has a helmet that I would consider "light".

I am prepared to pay for "light". I am however not prepared to swallow murketing fluff such as: "The center of gravity of a motorcycle helmet will affect how the weight is carried, which can make a lighter weight helmet feel heavy and vice versa."
With due respect to the retailer, this is nonsense.
Or:
"The fit of the helmet is paramount, because a proper fit will distribute the weight more evenly around the head and down through the shoulders".
Fit is important, but it will not do much to solve the problems caused by a heavy helmet. The weight causes fatigue and after a time pain in the base of the skull and shoulders, not on the top of the head where a bad fit will cause discomfort - a different problem altogether. At least, this has been my experience.

The SHARP site and this one too, https://www.crash.org.au/ratings.php lend weight to the view that safety and cost are not correlated. As I recall, the SHARP site shows a number of inexpensive helmets with very high safety ratings.
