Time for new boots
#21
I moved from Alpinestars to Daytona. Quality is better. My last Alpinestars lasted only 2 years, then the zipper was broken. Sad

My Daytona boots lasted 15 years. I literally went through the sole on them recently. Comfy enough to wear around off the bike. I bought the non waterproof ones but my feet never got wet in the rain.

I have found through a number of friends (and there seems to be a few on here too) once you go Daytona you don't go back. They are amazing boots. They may not look as flashy as some other brands like Alpinestar etc., but they just work.

I've been wearing Wesco boots since '93, my first pair are about ready for a rebuild. Jobmaster for work, The Boss for riding.

I bought the same Aerostich boots as pdedse a few years ago. I'll never wear them out.

I have discovered that with my newly fused lower spine I can no longer reach my feet to lace up my Cdn Army issue combat boots that I have been wearing for riding since 1991 (the Army gives you new ones when they wear out), or any footwear with laces really. I get to transition to Velcro shoes at the ripe old age of 45 - Sweet!!

Can anyone recommend a pair of boots with a side zip/Velcro closure (for ease of on and off) that does not have a waterproof membrane? Gortex boots make my feet sweat too much.

The front runner right are the Chippewa boots that Rolls posted.

Thanks.

a lot of the new Tactical type boots look lace up but zip from the side. I have seen them at Bass Pro and Cabelas. Multiple manufactures and styles

Thanks Ferret but I would warn anyone looking to use this style of boot for motorcycling as they offer no protection and are quite flimsily made.

They aren't suitable for military operations either, at least not the kind I did. I was issued 5.11 desert boots for my last tour to Afghanistan - I tried them on and promptly threw them in a closet and got a pair of desert Lowas. I could feel every rock through the bottoms.

They are quite comfy for normal desk type jobs in the Army but that's it.
