Best Bluetooth Earbuds for Riding

Ditto for the iPhone white plastic type. I can only seem to use the ones that have a normal, rubber round thing to stick in my ear. Cookie Monster gave me some useful advice on the way in this morning, and routed me around what must have been a spectacular wreck. I didn't see it due to my re-route, but the geyser visible in the distance leads me to believe that someone sheared off a fire hydrant.

I had to read that twice. First time I thought you meant you were chasing another member of the forum. Big Grin Then I realised you said 'geyser'.

I rode home through the continuing clean-up, as the fire hydrant geyser flooded out several planters full of flowers and washed the mud down the road.
No wreck is a laughing matter, but this one happened in front of the Auto Club's headquarters. That's worth at least a chuckle, right?

Death to you for that.

Pandora got me to sub to them for having that on repeat every two songs.

Randy, I can catch that commercial on the second cymbal beat. A quick smack to the neck will hit that mute button, my friend.

The $16.99 for these earbuds has to at least be worth it for that benefit.

Mad Max was just referenced in another post. I feel like Rockatansky sitting on the pile of tires in the refinery compound.....
"Two weeks ago, I found a pair of earbuds that will kill that stupid commercial. You want to ride with any sense of sanity... talk to me."

When my wife rides with me we run an intercom and I miss half of what she is saying depending on the situation unfolding in front of me. Listening to the news, or music for that matter would be impossible for me lol.

I understand what you're saying. But when I have music in my helmet, I am totally in my zone, and more focused than ever. Much more so than when I have custom-fitted earplugs in that block most sound. I use helmet speakers, so I can still hear what's going on around me, but for whatever reason the music brings focus. Same when I have to review detailed documents at work...put on some tunes with headphones and it brings focus.

Human speech, on the other hand, is a different matter. When I'm focused on what's in front of me, I find speech to be a distraction.

Strange how the brain operates (mine at least Smile).

I'm the same. Music in my helmet is passive and benign, while answering a phone call (hands free) or responding to the intercom requires focus and concentration. It can be a bit distracting.

Indeed, humans are distracting.

I love music in my helmet, but not when the road gets too challenging.

Back in the late 1960s/early 1970s, with none of these aids to communication in-helmet (and I'd only just bought a new "space", open-face helmet to replace my "pudding basin" style!), I experimented with "music while riding". I fitted a flat, telephone earpiece into my helmet, and connected it to a cassette recorder in my top box or tankbag. It "worked" - sort of, but was clumsy in use and audibly imperfect - just totally impractical.

Fast forward (see what I did there? Big Grin ) to year 2000+ and my USA tours, and I invested in proper helmet comms, with the ability to talk/listen and play music. It was a nightmare and I gave up, just communicating with my passenger instead.

I've tried listening to music on longer rides but... it's just a nuisance, more hassle than it's worth and, at times, distracting.

So for me, I've given up. Oh, and I'm now half-deaf so I can't hear it properly anyway!! Big Grin

Hearing aids bring a new dimension of complexity listening to music [comfortably, safely] in the helmet - I think.
